Minecraft Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Latest Version – Updated Features and Fixes

A new update for the Minecraft: Windows 10 and Minecraft: Pocket Edition version has been released which allow the players to visit new desert temples and explore them, collect four types of fluffy rabbits and use the new basic redstone components.

In addition, the new version also comes with five new door types along with a new biome settler character skins. Below we’re going to talk about the new additions that the Minecraft: Windows 10 and Minecraft: Pocket Edition comes with.

The new Minecraft version comes with exploring desert biomes, where the players will find mysterious desert temples emerging from the sands. These structures are made from sandstone and they will offer a chance for the Minecraft players to grab some decent loot (as long as they get out in one piece). In addition, the players will be able to find six types of adorable bunnies that are hopping around the Minecraft world.

Mojang said that they’ve invested the most sophisticated AI technology in the new Bunnies to make sure that these “creatures” will eat your crops when they are hungry. With other words, they are cute but at the same time they are quite “destructive”.

The same update brings Biome Settler Pack I that costs 1.99 dollars and it is the first of a series of desert, tundra and forest biome-inspired skin packs which brings more than two dozen new character skins to the Minecraft game. The new skin packs comes with a few new characters such as hunter, brewers, archers and more.

Minecraft 0.130 also features the first of three groups of simple redstone items which includes: redstone torches, redstone wires, levers, buttons, pressure plates, redstone lamps, note blocks, trapped chests, detector rails, TNT, tripwire hooks and more.

The full list of features, bug fixes and tweaks that Minecraft 0.13.0 comes with can be found on the Mojang website.

Minecraft Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Latest Version – Updated Features and Fixes

Minecraft Update Adds New Components, Areas to Explore, Fluffy Rabbits

A new update for the Windows 10 and Pocket Edition of Minecraft has been released, giving players access to “basic redstone components,” and introducing new desert temples to explore. Additionally, players can also collect “four types of cute, fluffy rabbits,” which is arguably the most important addition.

On top of all that, dwellings can now sport five new door types, and new biome settler character skins are also available. The full list of new additions can be found below.

  • Redstone Circuits: Today’s .13 update is sure to light up your life by delivering one of the most player-requested features for Windows 10 and Pocket Edition–redstone. Mining blocks of this very useful, rare material produces a substance called redstone dust. This dust can then be used to carry signals between objects and build some of the more advanced items in Minecraft. Players can make a wire out of redstone dust by placing it on blocks next to each other. By adding a redstone signal and components, players can create anything from doorbells to switchable lights to mob grinders to rollercoasters.
  • The .13 update brings the first of three groups of simple redstone items to the Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition beta and Pocket Edition including redstone wires, redstone torches, redstone lamps, levers, buttons, pressure plates, tripwire hooks, note blocks, trapped chests, detector rails and TNT. But don’t worry- Minecrafters who’ve already mastered advanced redstone can look forward to advanced blocks like Pistons, Repeaters and others are planned in future updates with the final two groups of redstone functionality.
  • Desert Temples and Rabbits: Redstone is a huge, much-awaited update, but we’ve also got icing to put on top of the cake! While exploring desert biomes, players may find mysterious desert temples emerging from the sands. Built from sandstone, these structures offer adventurous Minecrafters a chance at grabbing some valuable loot–provided they can make it out in one piece. Players will also now find six types of adorable, cuddly bunnies hopping around their Minecraft worlds. We’ve invested the most sophisticated in revolutionary Bunny AI Technology to ensure that, just like in real life, these skittish bundles of fur will help themselves to your crops when they are hungry. Cute, but destructive.
  • Biome Settlers: Also available today, the Biome Settler Pack I ($1.99 USD)–the first of a series of forest, tundra and desert biome-inspired skin packs, adds more than two dozen new character skins to the game. This new skin pack brings a slew of new settler characters like archers, hunters and brewers into the game, offering Minecrafters biome-themed skins they can use to roleplay with their friends.

Microsoft spent $2.5 billion to buy Mojang and the Minecraft property in September 2014. According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, its in-development augmented reality headset, HoloLens, was a major part of the decision to acquire the studio and its game.

“Let’s have a game that, in fact, will fundamentally help us change new categories,” Nadella said. “HoloLens was very much in the works [when Microsoft announced the deal last year], and we knew it.”

Microsoft has also confirmed that it will introduce Oculus Rift support for Minecraft in 2016.

On November 12, Minecraft was listed for a Wii U release by European ratings board PEGI. According to the listing, the Wii U Edition will be released this year. However, Nintendo, neither Mojang, nor its parent company, Microsoft, have officially announced the release yet.

Minecraft: Windows 10 Details Latest Update

There’s probably plenty to keep miners thoroughly entertained as it is in Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, however, Mojang have added more content to the game to further expand the creativity and playing time for keen crafters. Players will be able to create ever more blocky goodness with the addition of redstone components, explore all-new desert temples, find and collect four types of rabbits, and enjoy a few more creative options too.

As a highly-requested feature, redstone is sure to be a player-pleaser in the latest update. If you’ve never experienced the joys of redstone, take look at this quick rundown of the rare material:

Mining blocks of this very useful, rare material produces a substance called redstone dust. This dust can then be used to carry signals between objects and build some of the more advanced items in Minecraft. Players can make a wire out of redstone dust by placing it on blocks next to each other. By adding a redstone signal and components, players can create anything from doorbells to switchable lights to mob grinders to rollercoasters.Three groups of “simple redstone items” will be available including redstone wires, torches and lamps. Players can also use “levers, buttons, pressure plates, tripwire hooks, note blocks, trapped chests, detector rails and TNT”. If you’ve already mastered the art of advanced redstone, you will still be able to enjoy other advanced blocks such as Pistons and Repeaters. More blocks will be added in future updates when the final two groups of redstone functionality are released.

Minecraft W10 Update Screens 2

Shoghi and Daniel from Majong take to the newly updated land of Minecraft and check out a freshly created redstone mansion in this recently released video. Check it out and then see if you can rustle up a bigger and better mansion:

Redstone is the main feature of the update but Majong has also treated fans to a little bit extra with Desert Temples and Rabbits. As adventures explore desert biomes, mysterious desert temples will spawn from the sands. Players can give in to the temptation of exploring these structures and finding and grabbing some precious loot. Reap the rewards if you can make it back out of the temple alive.

The newly introduced rabbits will come in six types. Mojang has used the most “sophisticated in revolutionary Bunny AI Technology” to make sure that these cuddly rabbits will be just as annoying in-game as they will be in real life by eating all of your precious crops when they are hungry.

As if all of this wasn’t enough, the new “Biome Settler Pack I”, which includes the first series of “forest, tundra, and desert biome-inspired packs” and more than 24 new character skins has also been released at $1.99 or your regional equivalent.

The free update for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta is live right now and you will be prompted to download the update if you haven’t done so already.

Minecraft Wii U and NX Edition Update – To Come as a Gamechanger

It looks like something is going to happen to change the latter days of the Wii U: Minecraft is coming.

Not more than a week ago PEGI, at the European ratings board, surprisingly leaked the rating of Minecraft Wii U Edition. The game has been approved for 7 years and up, same as all other Minecraft versions. But this is not the most important thing at the moment, it was the existence of the game itself that intrigued everyone. Only with the advent of Minecraft Story Mode did the Minecraft drought begin to end.

Anyway, another question comes to mind, will Minecraft come to Nintendo NX? And what kind of game changer it will be, that if Nintendo NX is what we think it is. The answer is: it wll be spectacular, an entire revolution.

The Wii U edition of Minecraft is a bit late to the game. But still, it will sell a million copies or more, that is the effect of Minecraft. Chances are the game will make good use of the GamePad as an always-visible inventory, which – while it will hardly change how the game is played – will be a very welcome ease-of-use addition.

Minecraft NX Edition is a totally different thing, indeed it will be a gamechanger, provided that it will happen as announced. According to that story from a month or so back, the Nintendo NX is – as long suspected/dreamed/hoped – a console and handheld hybrid, roughly as powerful as the PlayStation 4. With its strong launch lineup, it’ll catapult Nintendo back into the current generation, but with exciting and innovative hardware to match.

Now let’s think about Minecraft itself. Minecraft Poket Edition was kind of lame, really and the PlayStation Vita is kind of expensive. But let’s think about the Nintendo NX and imagine what could if offer. A full, complete, and portable version of Minecraft, as modern as any of the console editions and not hobbled by the limitations of mobile devices. Isn’t that the dream?
Indeed, these are only speculations, Minecraft Wii U Edition isn’t even officially confirmed yet, but it will be, rather soon. But this doesn’t guarantee the existence of a Nintendo NX edition of Minecraft, well it’s something, even if it is just a reason for hope.

Minecraft Updates, Gameplay, News: New Update Adds Redstone Components, Desert Temples, Cute Bunnies

A new update has been released for the Windows 10 and Pocket Edition of Minecraft, adding new “redstone components” for players, as well new environments and other features.

Gamestop reports the .13 update will grant players access to a unique material known as redstone.

Mining redstone blocks will produce a substance known as redstone dust, which can be used to carry signals between objects and structures. Redstone can be utilized in a variety of ways, allowing players to construct creative mechanisms such as doorbells, switchable lights and even roller coasters.

The update will feature simple redstone items such as “redstone wires, redstone torches, redstone lamps, levers, buttons, pressure plates, tripwire hooks, note blocks, trapped chests, detector rails and TNT.” Future updates will bring more advanced tools like Pistons and Repeaters.

In addition, players may now stumble upon hidden temples when exploring desert levels. The temples will hold valuable loot if the players can survive its hazards.

Apparently, bunnies are also a thing now. The cute critters will hop across worlds, and help themselves to your crops if you aren’t vigilant.

Players now also have the option of purchasing the Biome Settler Pack for $1.99, which adds over two dozen new character skins to the game including archer, hunter and brewer models.

In other news, Microsoft announced this week that Minecraft developer Mojang joined up with Code.org, to produce a programming tutorial for children for the website’s annual Hour of Code event in December.

“Teachers and students can access the tutorial across PCs, tablets and phones to conduct an hour of code at home and in their classrooms on nearly any devices,” said Deirdre Quarnstrom, director of Minecraft for Education at Microsoft.

“Microsoft will also host Hour of Code events around the world and within Microsoft stores kicking off early next month,” she added.

Last year, Microsoft purchased Minecraft and Mojang for $2.5 million, launching Minecraft for Education soon after.

Minecraft Pocket Edition v0.13.0 Is Out With Redstone, Bunnies, And More Stackable Things

ap_resize.php

Minecraft v0.13.0 for Android entered beta earlier this month. Gamers downloaded the game. They tested it. They played with the new Redstone components. They dealt with bunnies. They opened and closed new types of wooden doors. Everything checked out, so now the latest version has gone stable. Non-beta testers are free to download the update straight from Google Play.

The addition of Redstone is a big deal, as it gives players the capability to create all sorts of things using wires, buttons, pressure plates, and other ways of managing power. That said, this release contains the first set of Redstone producers and consumers. The remainder of the functionality is on the way.

But let’s not forget the little tweaks. Skeletons now run away from wolves. Ghasts and Slimes actually spawn. Minecarts, boats, and beetroot soup are stackable. Obsidian breaks in 6.5 seconds instead of 3.

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 3 trailer reveals November 24 release date

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 3 trailer reveals November 24 release date

At this rate, Minecraft: Story Mode might set the record for fastest-released episodic Telltale game. Where players of Telltale’s Game of Thrones and Tales From The Borderlands had to wait months between episodes, Story Mode fans need only hold out til November 24 for Episode 3 – a scant four weeks since the release of Episode 2.

If you’re not familiar with Minecraft lore – and yes, there is such a thing – this trailer might have you a bit confused. What are those scary-looking jet black things with the purple eyes? Why is there a biodome with a portal full of stars in it? What’s a “wither storm”? Well, if you hurry, you’ll still have time to play Episodes 1 and 2 to find out.

Now you can learn code while playing Minecraft C+ for effort.

Minecraft maker Mojang has launched an online tutorial to help teach kids how to code.

2

It’s like a next-gen version of Logo, if you remember that.

The project, a collaboration between Mojang and Code.org, sees the player combining code snippets to accomplish tasks in a cut-down version of Minecraft.

It’s a smart idea and well laid out, so that after a series of exercises you are quickly incorporating code loops and other trickery.

By snapping together code you can command Minecraft protagonists Steve or Alex to move, harvest, plant crops, and eventually build houses or navigate a maze of explosive Creepers.

After you’re done you can then see the code version of the system you have created, showing how your work in the game’s colourful interface translates in programming language.

The project is meant to last an hour – making it perfect for classrooms.

I tried it myself and, as a barely-functioning adult with no experience of code, even I found it easy to use.

You can try it now for yourself at code.org/mc.

Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.13 Beta Now Out, New Update 1.9 Snapshot Reveals Additional Features

Significant updates for Minecraft have been making the rounds amongst fans of the popular videogame series in recent days. Last week, Mojang released a snapshot of the upcoming Minecraft Update 1.9. At this time, the release date for Update 1.9 has not been confirmed. Meanwhile, 0.13.0 Beta for the Minecraft Pocket Edition is out.

New Update 1.9 Snapshot Reveals Additional Features

Under the designation 15w46a, a snapshot for Update 1.9 confirms major improvements to the gameplay.

For instance, mobs will no longer spawn on rails, powered rails, detector rails and activator rails. Also, players will be able to sprint without abruptly stopping. They can also not spawn in blocks that have buttons, tripwire hooks, pressure plates, levers, redstone torches, redstone repeaters, comparators or redstone dust.

Some issues are being addressed as well. One issue reportedly solved is an annoying bug that causes third-person view to switch over to first-person when the player’s head enters into a block.

Other fixes target boats inexplicably sinking into water, and guardians spawning in random spots. Doors now have placement sounds. Also, end portal frames will not behave like solid blocks. The redstone dust hitbox has been modified. A few loot changes will be implemented.

Rabbit sizes have been reduced by a little. Also, the creature can spawn in deserts, flower forests, taiga, mega taiga, cold taiga, ice plains, ice mountains, ice plains spikes and hills. Players will find that rabbits panic a lot faster. Additionally, rabbits will no longer place begging for food as priority over mating. A full list of new features can be found here.

Pocket Edition 0.13.0 Update Released

In the meantime, Android users have gotten a new update for the device version of Minecraft. Albeit, the so-called Pocket Edition 0.13.0 Update comes in beta form. Mojang has not said when the final update will be rolling out. Notable new features include Redstone Blocks. In this category, there are Redstone Wire, Buttons, Levers, Redstone, Tripwires, Pressure Plates, Detector Rails, Lamps and Torches.

Changes also include tweaks to the mobs. Ghasts and slimes spawn a lot faster, and skeleton will flee from wolves. Also, sheep will now fall victim to wolves. Villages will either follow or stay.

Those interested in participating with the beta can do so after signing a disclaimer agreement with Mojang. Bear in mind, that untested update may make the installed app game unstable. Players whom have never played Minecraft can easily download and install the game on their handsets for just $6.99.

‘Minecraft’ Update: Minecraft Wii U Edition Classification from PEGI Removed, Leaving Gamers Hanging

Microsoft Debuts New Products For Its XBox Gaming Unit

The Pan European Game Information or PEGI recently posted that “Minecraft” Wii U Edition has been certified for release. Interestingly, Nintendo has not given an official statement on the said release.

A NeoGaf user posted a screenshot of the PEGI listing about the release of “Minecraft” Wii U Edition. It has a “7” rating, just like other console versions of “Minecraft.” It also has warning for the users stating that the game contains non-realistic violence towards the characters and the pictures and sounds from the game might be scary for children.

According to Neuro Gadget, “Minecraft” has been released to other portable platforms like “Minecraft: Pocket Edition” for smartphones and another edition for PlayStation Vita and Xbox. Unfortunately, there were no signs confirming that the game will be released for Nintendo’s Wii U. There is also no information if there will be any differences between the Wii U Edition and other platforms, but the Wii U’s game pad and stylus will definitely give the gamers nice options while building their world in the game.

While the Minecraft’s version for Xbox and PlayStation has sold millions of digital copies, the game’s Wii U version is still far from reality. When Microsoft bought Mojang, the developer said that Nintendo versions of Minecraft were still possible followed by news that “Minecraft Story Mode” was coming to Wii U. It will be the first appearance of the mega-series on any Nintendo game console.

That made “Minecraft” Wii U Edition seem possible to happen. The rating from PEGI, plus it seemed that the game would come out on Nov. 12 which was the date on PEGI’s listing. But then again, Nintendo did not mention anything about it during the most recent Nintendo Direct, as reported by iDigital Times.

Just recently, PEGI has removed the “Minecraft” Wii U listing from their website. Is it a sign that it won’t likely to happen, or does Nintendo simply want to direct users’ attention to the upcoming game “Terraria?” Maybe it’s not really ready yet or Nintendo is just saving it until after the holidays. It could be just an error on PEGI’s side. For now,  gamers have to wait for Nintendo’s official statement to have their questions answered.

Minecraft maps Scotland’s past

Gamers can now explore thousands of years of history thanks to the most topographically accurate and interactive Minecraft map of Scotland ever created.

GAMERS can now explore thousands of years of history thanks to the most topographically accurate and interactive Minecraft map of Scotland ever created.

Scotland’s ancient historical sites are now “virtually” at player’s fingertips through a full-scale Minecraft world called Crafting the Past.

After months of site visits, building and trialling, people from across the world are invited to download and uncover Roman forts, journey back to the Victorian era or excavate long-lost Pictish settlements as part of the immersive game.

The project is running in tandem with Dig It! 2015, the year-long celebration of Scottish archaeology.

In order to create the most authentic experience possible, archaeologists have been working alongside gaming experts since the beginning of the project.

Stephen Reid of ImmersiveMinds, who has been building the Crafting the Past worlds with a global team of Minecrafters, said: “It brings what children are learning to life. So the obvious choice for doing structural or topographical landscapes was Minecraft.

“We have more projects coming – we’re working with the National Mining Museum of Scotland, we’ve got an ancient burial cairns in Inverness. The downloads have absolutely been popular – we’ve had requests from as far away as New Zealand.

“We intended it to be a celebration of Scottish architecture and to create a digital archive for the people of Scotland. But immediately it’s been picked up by people from Israel, lots of European countries, asking if they can have a look, because people genuinely are interested in the history of Scotland. And a digital representation allows them to explore it.

“So, for example, in Penicuik House, they can actually re-live the fire of 1899 by setting the building on fire, watch it burn down, and then be left with the ruin. It allows people who have maybe visited it once or just want to see it in the first place to explore the site.

“There’s a real emphasis in the classroom just now to teach local and national history. They’re now looking at Scottish language, culture and heritage and we’re introducing this to schools as a way for them to explore their own heritage, through a platform they enjoy.”

Minecraft Wii U Rated By PEGI

By Seth G. Macy A rating for Minecraft Wii U has appeared on the Pan European Game Information page. The listing shows the game has been deemed suitable for ages 7 and up, but perhaps even more surprising than the game’s existence is the release date listed at November 12.

November 12 is also the day Nintendo will broadcast its first Nintendo Direct since the passing of former CEO Satoru Iwata. The company has been mum on details, which is par for the course for Nintendo. However, we’ve got 11 predictions about tomorrow’s Direct.

Way back in 2013, Minecraft-creator Notch said there were no Minecraft plans for Wii U, but Notch has since sold the company and the game now belongs to Microsoft. Minecraft routinely shows on the list of top selling games in the NPD Group reports of software and hardware sales in the US, so complete platform saturation is in the best interest of monetizing the Minecraft brand.

Fans of Minecraft and the Wii U have long wanted a marriage of the two, as the Wii U gamepad seems like it would make a perfect Minecraft companion. If Minecraft really is coming to Wii U, does this mean we can look forward to Minecraft amiibo? Let’s hope so, because a Creeper amiibo would be pretty awesome.

Molecules meet Minecraft in a world built for science class

A team of undergraduates at the University of Hull have created a Minecraft world full of structures of proteins, chemicals and chemical history to help introduce complex scientific concepts to children.

Using models of proteins and chemicals from an online database, the team imported the structures into Minecraft, where they created replicas of those shapes. Each atom is represented by a different coloured block, and each ribbon in the model represents a chain, with individual atoms not shown unless they are particularly important.

University of Hull/MolCraft

The world also contains treasure chests filled with puzzles and quizzes intended to encourage children to learn about biochemistry.

“Anyone can explore the building blocks of these incredible natural nano-machines,” explained researchers Mark Lorch and Joel Mills on The Conversation. “You can discover how just 20 chemical building blocks can result in the astonishing diversity of structures and functions that are required to hold living things together.”

“Imagine a science lesson where the class is let lose in Minecraft with instructions to find a set of objects hidden on key parts of molecules,” they said. “Upon retrieving them the teacher will know which molecules each student has explored and what questions they may have answered to find the objects. All this time, the children think they have just been playing a game.”

“The only limits are the imagination of teachers and students”.

Minecraft is finally coming to Nintendo Wii U

Minecraft has conquered almost every gaming platform known to man. The only significant hold-out of the current generation? Nintendo’s Wii U — but that’s changing.

According to a listing on the website for games rating body PEGI, Minecraft: Wii U Edition has been certified for release.

The game has been awarded a “7” rating, like all other console versions of Mojang’s endlessly popular sandbox game. PEGI warns that “it contains non-realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters. Pictures or sounds likely to be scary to young children. Non-realistic looking violence towards characters which although human are not very detailed.”

Although the game has previously released on portable formats, including PlayStation Vita and Minecraft: Pocket Edition for smartphones, there doesn’t appear to be any sign of a 3DS release for Minecraft to complement the Wii U version.

While there’s no information on any version differences, the Wii U’s gamepad and stylus could offer builders some interesting options in creating their worlds. The same tools prove hugely useful in Super Mario Maker, arguably Nintendo’s own approach to Minecraft’s user-generated content appeal.

WIRED contacted Nintendo UK regarding the Wii U release of Minecraft but a spokesperson was unable to comment.

However, the platform holder is hosting its first Nintendo Direct broadcast this evening at 10pm GMT — the first in six months, since president Satoru Iwata passed away.

The broadcast will be hosted by Nintendo of Europe President Satoru Shibata, and is set to provide updates on forthcoming Wii U and 3DS titles — a reasonable place to expect more information on Minecraft to be revealed. The broadcast will be streamed on Twitch and the Nintendo Direct site.

Minecraft Update 1.9: Snapshot 15w46a Continues Mojang’s Parade Of Bug Fixes

A new Minecraft snapshot is out this week, the second consecutive preview of Minecraft Update 1.9 to go live on a Thursday, and it looks like we really are getting close to the point when Mojang will feel confident releasing Minecraft Update 1.9 to the general public.

If the patch notes for Minecraft snapshot 15w46a are any indication, and we’re not sure how they couldn’t be, the next big update for Minecraft is likely just around the corner. After devoting the bulk of last week’s Minecraft Update 1.9 development to stamping out bugs, discovered during the snapshot process, Mojang have returned with another weekly Minecraft snapshot focused (primarily) on the various bugs still being encountered by the community.

That’s not to say there aren’t any other changes in Minecraft snapshot 15w46a. For starters, the latest Minecraft developmental preview introduces fallen trees. But the reason we’re so honed in on the bug fixes from this week’s Minecraft snapshot is because, typically, when the folks at Mojang puts on their exterminator caps, it signals the final countdown to a major update for the smash-hit sandbox game.

Sadly, we still don’t have a timeline for the debut of Minecraft Update 1.9. But that shouldn’t exactly come as a shock, either. As many Minecraft players have undoubtedly learned, Mojang isn’t a studio that likes to put itself on a deadline. Rather than promising content on a certain date, regardless of its current condition, Mojang seems to prefer waiting until it’s absolutely confident it can deliver new Minecraft builds before making public plans to release them. So we probably won’t get more than a week or two’s notice, as we have with the last several Minecraft updates.

Here are the complete patch notes for Minecraft snapshot 15w46a, via Jens Bergensten:

Minecraft Update 1.9: Snapshot 15w46a Continues Mojang’s Parade Of Bug Fixes

‘Minecraft’ Dev Introduces New Pocket Edition Beta 0.13.0 Update, Game Goes Up A Notch In Schools For Chemistry Class

With the numerous snapshots released for “Minecraft” PC, the developer has now given a new beta for players on the Android version, the “Minecraft Pocket Edition.” This time, it will introduce a new feature that fans have been clamoring for.

Announced over the official Mojang website, the new feature coming to the beta 0.13.0 update for “Minecraft Pocket Edition” are Redstone Circuits.

The features for the latest updates are slated to debut on both the “Minecraft Pocket Edition” and the “Minecraft Windows 10 Edition beta.” Mojang has yet to announce when these features will come to the mentioned platforms.

The beta will feature the first batch of Redstone blocks. For now, it will not include the Pistons, Repeaters and other blocks, though this may come at a later update. The Redstone circuits will include Redstone Wire, Torch, Lamp, Levers, Buttons, Pressure plates, Trapped Chests, Detector Rails and Tripwires. In addition, there are new wooden doors included.

Some tweaks have also been introduced to some commands in the game. The new Redstone can be used to control features like doors, TNT, rails and trapdoors. Boats can now go faster with different handling. Slimes and Ghasts can now spawn, while Skeletons can run away from Wolves.

For “Minecraft” players who are interested on being beta testers of the new update, there are three requirements to be eligible. “Minecraft Pocket Edition” is not a free app, so players will need to purchase the app via the Google Play Store for $6.99. Also, Mojang has an opt-in agreement to which players will need to agree with. Finally, the Android device of the owner should be able to run “Minecraft Pocket Edition” with the right version of the Android software.

PC players are still waiting for the latest update of “Minecraft.” However, that does not mean that there are no progress with the game’s current version. At Hull University in the UK, a new educational variant of “Minecraft” has been created for the study of molecular structures and chemistry.

BBC reported that the program is geared towards an interactive approach of the subject, taking advantage of the game’s simple but effective gameplay mechanics.

“‘Minecraft’ is a fabulous tool for exploring structures of buildings, landscapes and even anatomy,” Dr. Mark Lorch, one of the developers of the program, told BBC. “It is a really novel way of engaging them and delivering information to them.”

Currently, the unique program makes use of the different features of “Minecraft.” These include treasure chests, goodies and puzzles, as well as the main building feature of “Minecraft.”

See What Redstone Can Create in the Upcoming “Minecraft: Pocket Edition” 0.13 Update

We know that redstone, the powerful element from the desktop version of Minecraft, is coming to Minecraft: Pocket Edition [$6.99] very soon, as it has arrived in the beta version of 0.13 on Android. But what exactly can you do with the element on the mobile version of the game? Well, let a couple of Mojang developers show you the power of redstone in this video, which is made in the Windows 10 Beta version of Minecraft, but should function the same in the iOS and Android version of the game.

Redstone promises to bring huge changes to Minecraft Pocket Edition, as many of the more complex creations in the desktop Java version of the game are powered by redstone. And players have been able to make things like machines, and even playable guitars:

Now you put that big mobile playerbase to work on making redstone creations on the go, and who knows what they’ll be doing once update 0.13 is out…

Minecraft Pocket Edition Gets 0.13.0 Beta Update; Release Date For Minecraft Update 1.9

For those who have developed a love for Mojang’s mega-blockbuster sandbox game Minecraft, there is some good news for those who are on the Pocket Edition.  A 0.13.0 Beta update allows players to use Redstone, but only if you are Android and follow a certain set of procedures.  In the meantime, there hasn’t really been any news on the Update 1.9 or Combat Update that fans of the game are really wanting, but here is news about a possible release date.

According to the International Business Times, there is a new feature coming to the beta 0.13.0 update for the Minecraft Pocket Edition with Redstone Circuits.  If you are not familiar with that term from Minecraft, it is a structure that can be built to activate or control mechanisms.

This beta features the first batch of Redstone blocks, but it does not include Pistons, Repeaters, and other blocks but this could come at another time.  For now, players of the Minecraft Pocket Edition can enjoy Redstone Wire, Torch, Lamp, Levers, buttons, Pressure Plates, Trapped Chests, Detector Rails, and Tripwires.  There have also been some interesting modifications as the Redstone can control doors, TNT, rails, and trapdoors.  There are other applications that have been put on Touch Arcade like a Playable Guitar, for example.

There are also some modifications that are not related to the Redstone like some new wooden doors, boats that go faster with different handling, Slimes and Ghasts can now spawn, and Skeletons can run away from Wolves.

Those who are interested in trying out the new beta update should purchase the application on the Google Play Store for the $6.99 price.  Mojang has an opt-in agreement that players have to agree to, and the Android device should be able to run this beta.  Tech Times suggests that before applying to be a beta tester for this update, you should backup your existing worlds.  Once you have joined, the Android device should download and install the Minecraft: Pocket Edition beta version 0.13.0, but it might take a few days to arrive.

In addition to the beta update for the Pocket Edition, fans are eagerly looking forward to update 1.9, which is also known as the Combat Update.  According to Minecraft’s own Gamepedia, This Combat update is expected to “overhaul the combat system, among other additions and changes”.  It was expected that this update would arrive in mid-October, but this doesn’t seem to happen.

iDgitialTimes reports that the features of Minecraft Update 1.9 were discussed during a MineCon Panel.  One of the features discussed at this presentation was plans to overhaul the game-ending Ender Dragon encounter.  Most players have found that this foe isn’t too difficult for this game’s equivalent of a final boss, and the game doesn’t really give much incentive to even try to slay this dragon.  Mojang wants to motivate players by tying in new things with the dragon, and explore the new islands coming in the end.

Version 1.9 also plans to introduce a new dimension that includes a new zone complete with new blocks, new food source, new mobs and other changes that could take a while to implement, hence the increased wait.  Other new updates to Version 1.9 include new items like enchanted arrows and spell effects.  These arrows include spectral arrows, invisibility arrows, and poison arrows.   There is also talk of dual-wielding, as the player can toggle the primary hand of the character.

There is still no word on the release date of the long-awaited Version 1.9, but if Mojang is smart, they will have it out before the holiday season.  One shouldn’t be surprised if it becomes available by Thanksgiving for fans to play on the four-day weekend.

Flynn’s Log 5 news

Stone Marshall

Starting an email with “Dear Reader” feels lame. I’d rather say, Hello Andrew and Rachel and Ryan and Ava and, well, I think I’m making the point to myself. With each new book, I can’t exactly write an email to every one on the team, but I can reply to each email I receive. I don’t always reply and I’m sorry for that. But I’ll keep trying!

So, as I write this email, I’ll write to my son, Nabru Marshall.

Hi son,

Nice job at the Pokémon tournament on Saturday! No, I can’t play Pokémon now. Why? Because I’m writing you a letter. Let’s play tonight, 8pm, but you’ve got to give me a couple of Megas or else I have no chance. Ok, sure, we’ll build on our Studio Minecraft server for a bit and then play Pokémon.

Should we open the Stone Marshall Studio MC server to our readers? I think it makes sense to do that. They’ll get it. We’ve built the Legends & Heroes world they know from the books. Right, Jesse built most of it, but you’ve got your secret area that only you and your buddies know how to get to. Doh, it’s not a secret area now that I told everybody, but the entrance is still a secret.

How should we open it? We’ve got to keep the world intact. We can’t have Greifers destroying the Kingdom or parts of the Beyond. We can change the game mode to protect it. I think it would be cool to have a certain time each week where we login and create groups (Heroes vs. Legends) and have battles. I’m not sure how to set that up. I wonder if one of our readers knows how to admin an MC server?

You know what else I’d love? To have a reader-created world that we can write stories about. Make it part of our Legends & Heroes series.

Your buddies want me to finish Flynn’s Log 5. Yea, I know. I get email every day from readers, our friends, who want the same thing. I’m working on it. I distracted myself early in the year. We started the Stone Marshall Studio and the Legends & Heroes series to give me more time to write Flynn’s Log and keep up with our friends’ demands for more books, but it backfired. We spent tons of time working out the Legends & Heroes story arc and creating characters and illustrations and the world. And the whole time we left Flynn in limbo.

I need to tell you about Flynn.

What’s taking so long? Yikes, that’s a tough question. I love Flynn, but his mind is a bit mixed up right now. He doesn’t realize what’s really happening. So I’m trying to help him, but he’s not listening to me. He’s only listening to Zana.

Why don’t I tell Zana what to do, you ask? Right, have you tried talking to Zana? She’s way too logical. I can’t get anything past her. I try to explain “life” to her and she destroys my logic. I use the definition of life and she tells me how her version of life is more accurate. I can’t convince Zana to tell Flynn anything that I want him to hear.

Whose cap did Elle grab in Flynn’s Log 4? Wait just a minute, I’m not giving spoilers here, but I think you know what happened, if you look deep within.

When will the next book be out? If Flynn and Zana cooperate, then we’ll have a Christmas release. Elle is being helpful, but right now I need to listen in on Flynn’s mind. I also need to intercept Zana’s transmissions (her encryption is becoming more difficult to break).

I’ve not yet told you anything about Flynn. That’s because you keep asking questions. Flynn is, well, he’s where we left him. What’s he been doing? We’ll find out soon enough. But, I need to warn you. His emotional state might be unstable. He’s facing some questions that we all face, questions about his very existence and what it all means.

Does he find the answers? No more questions!

Until then, our friends can read the latest Legends & Heroes issue. Yes, our friends can get free codes for iBooks. I can’t get codes for the other ebook stores, it’s like Apple “gets it” with codes and the others don’t. But I can still get the issue to our friends who read on Kindle, Android, etc., if they know how to load an ebook onto their device.

So, if your friends want the latest issue for free, ask them to email me. If they read iBooks (Apple devices), I’ll send a promo code. If they use another device, I’ll send a link to the file for side loading.

But I need the right information, so be sure they send this to me:

Subject Line of Email: Legends & Heroes Issue 8

Type of eReader: iBooks, Kindle, Google Play, NOOK, Kobo, online, other

Or, if they don’t want the hassle of side loading and don’t mind paying a buck, they can get it here: https://www.stonemarshall.com/l&h0008. Be sure they ask their parents if it’s OK to buy the book and download the file!

With Love,

Dad (Stone Marshall)
