Zack Snyder Talks ‘Robin’ Rumor, Superhero Fatigue, BATMAN V SUPERMAN And JUSTICE LEAGUE

Before addressing how he’s overseeing the DCEU, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder talks about the craziest rumors he’s heard about the movie and he also addresses Steven Spielberg’s recent remarks about superhero films. Check it out!
Zack Snyder recently chatted with Yahoo to help promote Doritos’ last Super Bowl advertising campaign, which will allow one lucky fan and aspiring filmmaker not only a chance to work with the director on the set of an upcoming DC Comics movie, but also to win a $1 million prize. Of course, during Snyder’s Q&A, talk eventually turned to the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and rumors surrounding the overall DC Extended Universe that he is helping Warner bros. achieve.

When asked about Steven Spielberg’s comment that superhero movies would “go the way of the western,” Zack Snyder said he might not be wrong. “I think it puts more pressure on us, the filmmakers, to not just crank out superhero movies for the sake of it,” he said. “To me, the one thing I love working in the DC universe is that Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman are American mythology. It’s not about making a superhero, it’s a mythological universe that we live in. That I hope stands the test of time. They stood the test of time. That’s hopefully the sort of magic bullet. But who knows what audiences will want in the future.” As for what he does to keep the trinity fresh, “To me it’s about the drama, the humanity of it. Those are like Shakespearean characters, Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, they have inherent drama built into their makeup.”

With Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman among the superheroes to be featured in Dawn of Justice, Zack Snyder was then asked if he worries about over-stuffing the movie. “I try and stay central,” he replied. “There’s something really fun about bringing the other characters in, but it’s really about staying central to the real core mythology is what I think the audience enjoys most.” About the many rumors surrounding DCEU, Synder was asked what are the craziest ones he’s heard so far. “There are so many, it’s insanity,” he said. “It’s funny because every now and then someone will touch on something that’s kind of true, but the next thing they say makes me realize that they took a wild guess. They’ll say something and I’ll say “Oh snap, they must have seen the script.” And then they’ll say, “And this happens!” And then I’ll go, They have no idea what they’re talking about. It’s fun for everyone to speculate and take shots and think of things and try to sell it. There’s an industry in selling your guess. [People think], “I’m going to make a fake script and look like I read the real one.” What length are you willing to go?” He continued, “There’s a rumor that my son is [playing] Robin. It’s not true. Now there are all these images of him that people have made where he’s dressed like Robin. It’s fun to hear and see them.”

Finally, Snyder was asked about his role in the development of the DC Extended Universe beyond Batman v Superman, which includes serving as a producer on Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman. “I’m staying with Batman v Superman and Justice League and Justice League 2 — those are my main responsibilities, as well as producing the other movies,” he reassured. “That’s the main line. Once you get Justice League, you’re pretty deep in it. But like I was saying, not to be a selfless promoter of our program, what it shows is that we have this giant berth of opportunity with the DC movies now to I think find the opportunities for even young filmmakers to even get involved because there are so many projects.” Head over to Yahoo for more contest info.

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before. Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio from David S. Goyer’s screenplay, and is scheduled to open March 25, 2016!

Did Marvel Cancel The Inhumans Movie Because of TV Feud? [Updated]

Inhumans Movie Cancelled Did Marvel Cancel The Inhumans Movie Because of TV Feud? [Updated]As Marvel Studios enters Phase 3 of The Avengers shared cinematic universe, several long-in-development projects are finally seeing the light of day: Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange will hit theaters in the next few years. In addition to a recently unveiled Ant-Man sequel (titled Ant-Man and The Wasp), Thor: Ragnarök, Captain America: Civil War, and the two-part Avengers: Infinity War storyline, Marvel had planned to bring their Inhumans property to theaters on July 12, 2019 – as a full entry in the next wave of films.

Now, at New York Comic-Con, word is getting out that Marvel has cancelled Inhumans – due to ongoing strife between the company’s movie and TV branches.

Bleeding Cool was the first to break the news but before anyone dismisses the report as fabricated hearsay, it’s worth noting that Screen Rant has heard similar rumblings. This isn’t to say that the Inhumans film is officially canceled or that the situation might not change in the coming days but, according to sources, the Marvel movie department could remove Inhumans from their slate.

Longtime Marvel fans will recall that in spite of the interplay between Marvel films (most recently Ant-Man and The Avengers: Age of Ultron) and TV shows (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter), the comics, film, and TV devisions contributing to Marvel’s shared universe do not always play nice. Previously, Marvel CEO Isaac Perlmutter oversaw all three divisions but, recently, Disney restructured the company – asking movie head Kevin Feige to report directly to the Mouse House (essentially side-stepping Perlmutter). Conversely, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb still reports to Perlmutter.

Over the last two years, Marvel TV has taken cues from the larger movie universe, settling for minor cameos from supporting Avengers characters (Maria Hill, Lady Sif, etc) – while, at the same time, helping to set the stage for major events in the larger film story. No doubt, the relationship has been mutually beneficial but the movie side was seeing a greater return on the partnership (especially for its producers, directors, writers, and cast members). However, the recent addition of Inhumans to Agents of SHIELD was expected to be a turning point for the series – allowing Loeb’s team to lay substantial groundwork for an upcoming feature film project (with possible starring appearances from their key TV actors).

At the same time, Inhumans is an important property for the Marvel comics division – since the characters allow for a never-ending font of super-powered people and stories. The rise of the Inhumans at Marvel coincides with the publisher’s choice to gradually phase-out properties (X-Men and Fantastic Four especially) whose film rights are held by non-Marvel studios.

Agents of SHIELD Lash Inhuman Marvel Did Marvel Cancel The Inhumans Movie Because of TV Feud? [Updated]

Understandably, with their feet firmly planted in Inhumans storytelling, Marvel TV and Marvel comics were banking heavily on development of an Inhumans movie. Unfortunately, Feige doesn’t directly share in either motivation – meaning that, if other movies are a better fit for Phase 3 or 4, there’d be no incentive for the producer to spend millions developing, producing, and distributing an Inhumans film. That might sound harsh, and without question Feige wants to see other Marvel divisions succeed, but it’s his job to look out for his own house first and foremost – and, currently, his team is responsible for Marvel’s resurgence in popularity. Marvel comics and TV have a strong following but they’re not printing money (and selling merchandise) like Feige’s film division.

That’s all to say: it’s very possible that Marvel Studios is planning to remove Inhumans – especially now that three untitled Marvel movies are scheduled for the following year (May 1, July 10 and November 6, 2020). There’s still a possibility that these NYCC rumors are just hearsay or a momentary snapshot of tense (but ongoing) discussions at Marvel HQ; though, there are also enough pieces falling into place to suggest that Inhumans fans may not see the characters arrive in theaters on schedule – if at all.

UPDATE: Hitfix is refuting this rumor, with its sources claiming that “certain elements of the ‘Inhumans’ universe that have been declared off-limits to the ‘SHIELD’ people as a result.” Meanwhile, BMD‘s Devin Faraci posted the following on Twitter:

What Are Marvel’s 3 New Mystery Movies Releasing in 2020?

Marvel Phase 4 Logo Rob Keyes What Are Marvels 3 New Mystery Movies Releasing in 2020?If you missed the surprise news yesterday morning, the Marvel Cinematic Universe just got a little bigger. Four movies bigger to be exact and we’re still pondering what it means for the larger long-form story of the franchise.

Here’s the simple part: Ant-Man is getting a sequel titled Ant-Man and the Wasp and it was slotted for release in July 2018, a release date previously held by Captain Marvel, then held by Black Panther. The schedule has adjusted twice now with the additions of Spider-Man and now the Ant-Man followup. Where it gets a little confusing is in the second part of the announcement where Marvel Studios set dates for three (3!) additional unannounced films in 2020.

The updated schedule of upcoming MCU feature films in Phase 3 now looks like this (Note: Black Panther was moved closer to February 2018 and Captain Marvel was pushed back into 2019):

2016

  • May 6, 2016 – Captain America: Civil War
  • November 4, 2016 – Doctor Strange

2017

  • May 5, 2017 – Guardians of the Galaxy 2
  • July 27, 2017 – Spider-Man
  • November 3, 2017 – Thor: Ragnarok

2018

  • February 16, 2018 – Black Panther
  • May 4, 2018 – The Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1
  • July 6, 2018 – Ant-Man and the Wasp

2019

  • March 8, 2019 – Captain Marvel
  • May 3, 2019 – The Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2
  • July 12, 2019 – Inhumans

2020

  • May 1, 2020 – Unannounced
  • July 10, 2020 – Unannounced
  • November 6, 2020 – Unannounced

Are Marvel’s 3 New Mystery Movies Part of Phase 3?

Thanos Infinity Guantlet War What Are Marvels 3 New Mystery Movies Releasing in 2020?

The official press release on Marvel.com detailing these news bits was titled “Phase 3 Update” and nowhere in the announcement is the term “Phase 4″ so by that alone we could assume that the 2020 films are indeed part of Phase 3. When we asked someone at Marvel, they didn’t know for certain if that was the case however.

It remains the number one question since if Phase 3 does continue all the way until November 2020, than that chapter of the MCU does not end with the Avengers: Infinity War. Perhaps the war itself and the repercussions of it extend through another four films (Inhumans, which was originally scheduled to release before Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 and three unannounced features). If so, this war could be shown on more fronts and perhaps embrace elements of Jonathan Hickman’s game-changing 2012-2015 Avengers runs in Marvel Comics which included the Infinity and Inhumanity storylines where a new cosmic threat emerges and Thanos takes advantage and attacks Earth. The aftermath sees the Inhumans unleash Terrigen Mists all across the world (something we’re right now starting to see on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

Phase 2 didn’t end with Avengers: Age of Ultron this summer however, and Ant-Man certainly didn’t cap off some larger story, instead serving more as a standalone origin tale, so the beginning and end points of each Phase don’t necessarily need to be well-defined as such.

If Inhumans or one of the 2020 features is the beginning of Phase 4 however, there’s a stronger likelihood that at least two of those new dates could be for sequels to established series.

What Movies is Marvel Planning For 2020?

Adam Warlock Ronan Nova Guardians of the Galaxy What Are Marvels 3 New Mystery Movies Releasing in 2020?

We suspect Marvel doesn’t want to wait more than three years in bringing back the Guardians of the Galaxy after Volume 2 releases in 2017 so Volume 3 or a related cosmic spinoff seems an obvious contender for 2020. Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2 writer and director James Gunn has continually made mention and hinted at the idea of GOTG spinoffs, stating those are the only other movies he could see himself working on in the MCU.

So, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Nova origin story? Warlock and the Infinity Watch?

The 2020 titles haven’t been announced yet because they 1) aren’t finalized or 2) too revealing at this stage.

Since Captain America: Civil War kicks off Phase 3 next summer in 2016, we can also envision a fourth Captain America title featuring someone else wearing the star-spangled Avengers uniform (Bucky or Falcon) in Captain America 4. We could also see a followup for Doctor Strange since 2020 will be four years since his debut.

There’s also the “inevitable” day where Marvel TV heroes, including the Netflix Defenders (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, etc.) will appear in the films. Maybe they can get their own film after having their origins explored on the small screen.

Marvels The Defenders Logo What Are Marvels 3 New Mystery Movies Releasing in 2020?

We’re still unclear at this point on the details of the partnership agreement between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures over the use of Spider-Man but it’s a guarantee that there will be more new Spider-Man movies and spinoffs coming after his 2017 re-reboot. Those could fall entirely under the Sony umbrella however, even if they take place in the MCU, and might not be counted on this list. If those future Spidey products are Marvel Studios branded however, then something along the lines of Spider-Man 2/Venom/Sinister Six will absolutely be out in 2020 as well.

We’ll learn more as casting and writer/director news trickles in over the next few months, but take this time to share your thoughts and theories on what directions Marvel Studios should explore next!

Marvel Updates: Black Panther Date Moved Again + 3 Untitled Movies Set for 2020 (What Could They Be?)

Black Panther

Marvel has dropped some “Phase 3″ info that you should probably be aware of…

– First, and maybe of most interest to this blog, the Black Panther movie release date has been moved up to February 16, 2018, from July 6, 2018. Keep in mind that it was originally slotted to be released even earlier, on November 3, 2017. So today’s move doesn’t make a huge difference, considering how far into the future 2018 still is. But you’ll get to see the movie about 5 months earlier than the previous set date; that is, assuming Marvel doesn’t change the date again between now and 2018, which is still over 2 years away, so anything is possible.

– Second, “Ant-Man” is getting a sequel, this time with Hope Van Dyne at his side, in Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which is set for a July 6, 2018 release (“Black Panther’s” previous date).

– Third, “Captain Marvel” is also getting a date shift, not set for March 8, 2019.

– And finally, Marvel says there will be 3 untitled films that will premiere on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020. The studio doesn’t say what those films will be. So, let the speculation begin!

Regarding Black Panther, as of Tuesday this week, Joe Robert Cole is currently in negotiations to pen the screenplay for “Black Panther,” which will star Chadwick Boseman.

If Cole’s name isn’t at all familiar to you, it won’t be a surprise, given that he really doesn’t have any IMDB credits. The scribe comes from an in-house writer’s program, so he’s a fresh face, you could say.

Still no director attached however. I’ve said before that I wouldn’t be shocked if the job went to F. Gary Gray, a director whose name is being tossed around for other high-profile projects currently (“Furious 8” most recently), after the immense success of “Straight Outta Compton.” But given that he appears to be all-but certain to direct “Furious 8,” that would likely put him out of contention for “Panther,” given that “Furious 8” is set for a spring 2017 release, meaning it’ll be shooting next year. I’d imagine that whomever is tasked with directing “Black Panther” will likely have to commit 2 years of their life (starting in 2016 probably) to seeing the project from start to release and beyond. So I can’t see him directing both films, which would each intense in its own way, I would imagine.

The only certainty as of this post is that Boseman will star as Black Panther.

No one else has been cast; no director attached.

If you missed it, check out my thoughts (here) on directors that Marvel should consider meeting with for the job.

Also feel free to speculate on what you think the 3 untitled films will be – specifically if any of them will center of black Marvel superheroes.

Marvel Studios Phase 3 Update

Now that Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially reached its conclusion with the release of Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” we have new details on what to expect in Phase 3!

Following our hero’s debut adventure in this summer’s “Ant-Man,” Scott Lang will return alongside Hope Van Dyne on July 6, 2018 with Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” The sequel will mark the first Marvel Studios film named after its heroine.

Additionally, Ant-Man’s second adventure will lead to a couple of other films shifting their dates, with Marvel’s “Black Panther” moving up to February 16, 2018 and Marvel’s “Captain Marvel” landing on March 8, 2019.

Finally, three untitled Marvel Studios films will premiere on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020.

The announcement of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” follows the success of “Ant-Man,” which has earned $178.5M domestically and $231.3M internationally for a global total of $409.8M. It’s the #9 film of the year domestically, and opens in its final international market, China, on October 16.

“Ant-Man” followed one of this year’s biggest blockbusters, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which has earned $458.9M domestically and $946M internationally for a global total of $1,404.9M, making it the #2 film of the year domestically and the #6 film of all time globally.

Stay tuned to Marvel.com for more exciting announcements on Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.

World of Tanks developer reenacts a 1941 battle for 360-degree video and virtual relaity

Wargaming hired 40 war reenactors to act as infantry.

Wargaming wants to put you into a battle.

The company released a special video today called “1941 Battle: 360-degree Reenactment” that enables viewers to get an immersive look at what a World War II tank fight looked like. Wargaming worked with Google and The Bovington Tank Museum in Dorset, U.K. to record and accurately portray the fight, and you can watch it all in a video on YouTube. If you do, you can use your arrow keys or your mouse to look around and see different angles of the battles. If you want even more immersion, you can boot up the video on the YouTube app for the Google Cardboard VR holster for your smartphone to make it feel like you’re truly standing in the middle of the mayhem.

Check it out for yourself:

To bring the battle to life, Wargaming took to a field with a platoon of war reenactors as well as the T-34 and Panzer III tanks. The publisher even had artillery guns and planes flying over head. Then Google set up its 360-degree recording equipment, which is similar to the Google Jump technology it introduced earlier this year for enabling consumers to produce their own 360-degree VR videos.

This is more evidence at just how much money Wargaming has to market its free-to-play PC shooter. World of Tanks is a highly lucrative game that has caught on with gamers around the world — and especially in emerging markets like Russia and Brazil. While it doesn’t generate the same level of revenues as something like League of Legends (what does?), it’s in that second tier of globally popular PC games. It made approximately $400 million in 2014, according to the SuperData research firm. That was enough to put it in the top-five PC releases in terms of cash made from in-app purchases.

Microsoft Monday: New Xbox Bundles, Office 2016 For Windows, Minecraft For Oculus And Halo 5 Details

“Microsoft Monday” takes a look back at the past week of news related to Microsoft. This week, “Microsoft Monday” includes details about new Xbox One bundles, Office 2016 for Windows PCs, a scheduling app for iPhone called Invite, the cost of using Office 365 on an iPad Pro, Minecraft coming to Oculus Rift, Skype’s 15 hour outage, Windows 10 replacing Bing for Baidu in China, the download size of Halo 5: Guardian and what is at Microsoft’s event on October 6th.

Screen-Shot-2015-09-26-at-11.14.35-AM

New Xbox Bundles To Be Announced This Week

Larry Hryb (“Major Nelson”), the director of Xbox Programming, wrote a tweet saying: “The holidays are quickly approaching and starting Monday, we will reveal a new Xbox One bundle each day of the week.” During the holiday season last year, Microsoft’s Xbox One became the top selling console in the U.S. and U.K. after the Redmond giant offered price cuts and several bundles options.

What kind of Xbox One game bundles will Microsoft unveil this week? It seems likely that bundles for Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Fallout 4 would be offered. Possibly, Microsoft may announce another type of Elite Bundle. The recently announced Xbox One Elite Bundle — which will be available starting November for $499 — has a matte finish, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller and a 1TB SSD. “Microsoft Monday” will have all the details about the new Xbox One bundles on October 5th.

Office 2016 For Windows

Microsoft released Office 2016 for Windows PCs this past week and it includes updates for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, OneNote, Project and Visio. In the updates, there is an emphasis on real-time co-authoring, Skype integration and the Tell Me feature.
Recommended by Forbes

Currently, the co-authoring feature is only available on Word. And all of the collaborators have to be on Office for Windows. Fortunately, Microsoft plans to offer real-time collaboration for more platforms and apps sometime down the line.

Office 2016 for Windows has Skype integration, which means that you can communicate while working in Office apps. You can utilize Skype’s text messaging, screen sharing and video chatting features while working within Office 2016 for Windows. And Office 365 for Business accounts supports Skype integration with corporate directories.

In the new version of Office, you can search for specific capabilities and commands within each app using Tell Me. This feature catches Office for Windows up with Office Online — which added the Tell Me feature last year. Tell Me lets you type in the name of the task that you want to perform and then Office will show you matching commands. Outlook also monitors e-mail patterns to determine how to prioritize your inbox.

If you are an Office 365 subscriber, you can download the new apps from your Microsoft account. Office 365 subscriptions start at $7 per month ($69.99 per year) for a Personal account. Or you can buy a retail version, which costs:

– $149 for Office Home & Student (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote)

– $229 for Office Home and Business (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote)

– $399 for Office Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access and Publisher)

Microsoft Office For iPad Pro Requires An Office 365 Subscription

Screen-Shot-2015-09-26-at-10.27.19-AM

Last year, Microsoft started letting iPad and iPhone owners download Office for iOS for free. And an Office 365 subscription is not needed for editing documents and storing them in the cloud on an iPhone or iPad.

At Apple AAPL +0.00%’s “Hey Siri” event earlier this month, Microsoft corporate vice president of Office 365 Client Applications Kirk Koenigsbauer took the stage to talk about how Microsoft Office products will run on the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro. During the demo, Koenigsbauer showed how well the Apple Pencil works with Office for iPad. However, Koenigsbauer did not reveal the cost of Office for the iPad Pro during the event.

Office on the iPad Pro will require an Office 365 subscription for editing, according to Ars Technica. Why does Microsoft require an Office 365 subscription for the iPad Pro? Microsoft said anything below 10.1 inches is a “true mobile device.” But screen sizes above that threshold are no longer a true mobile device.

To sign up for Office 365, it costs $6.99 per month (or $69.99 per year). This includes fully installed Office applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access for 1 PC or Mac, 1 tablet and 1 phone along with 1TB of OneDrive storage. Or you can buy an Office 365 subscription for 5 PCs or Macs, 5 tablets and 5 phones for $9.99 per month (or $99.99 per year).

Microsoft Introduces A Meeting Scheduling App Called “Invite”

Screen-Shot-2015-09-26-at-10.39.17-AM

Last week, Microsoft introduced a new meeting scheduling app for the iPhone called Invite. The Invite app makes easy to organize meetings on-the-go. Currently, it is available for iPhones in the U.S. and Canada, and it will be coming soon to Windows Phone and Android. Invite plays nicely with Office 365 business and school subscriptions, and it also works with Outlook.com, Yahoo YHOO +0.00% Mail and Gmail.

How does the Invite app work? You suggest times that work for you and invite attendees. The attendees select all of the times that they can attend. After everyone responds, you pick the time that works best and send out the calendar invites.

What makes the Invite app more convenient than using the “send availability” feature on Outlook is that you can see everyone’s schedule at once. And the people you invite do not need to have the app installed to respond to the meeting invitations. Once you schedule the meeting, it can sync from the Invite app to your calendar program.

The Invite app was created by the Microsoft Garage team. The Garage team at Microsoft includes hackers, artists, musicians and inventors. Some other Microsoft Garage projects includes Microsoft Snip, the Send app and the Tossup app. You can download Invite from iTunes now.

Teen Wolf boss answers season 5 finale burning questions, talks potential Derek return

In the final hour of Teen Wolf’s season 5A, five people were resurrected, Parrish was revealed to be a Hellhound, and Lydia was left a catatonic state. And that’s not even mentioning Theo being a chimera, the return of Braedan, and a handful of other huge life events. Let’s just say a lot happened in the season’s final hour.

With that in mind, we talked to showrunner Jeff Davis about all of the twists and what’s to come in 5B. (Yes, we asked about Roscoe the Jeep.)

Let’s talk about the Wild Hunt. “We always start a season talking about different mythologies and this was one of those more fascinating ones, the story of the ghost riders and the idea that the Hellhound, or the black dog, is part of it all the way back to Woden’s Hunt,” Davis said. “So it felt like a good way to start the season off and a potential mythology that we’d plant the seeds for that could pay off in later episodes. And we always knew that we wanted to tie Parrish’s story back to that first big storm and give a first clue as to what he is.”

Why the Hellhound? “We had a couple different ideas [for Parrish] at first, but we ended up on this because we knew that we wanted Parrish’s role to be morally on the fence,” he said. “You don’t know whether he’s a good guy or a bad guy but that he serves a function, that he is definitely there for a reason, that he was drawn to Beacon Hills for a purpose, and the purpose of a Hellhound is they’re a guardian of a supernatural place and that’s what he is. And we’re going to find out just what that role entails in season 5B and how dangerous it’s going to become for the rest of the characters.”

The Doctors caused the Wild Hunt. If you thought the Wild Hunt was the Doctor’s end game … you might be right. “Well, they are tied into a part of it, which is revealed in the fresco that is uncovered at the end. We’ve always described the Doctors as scientists who worship the supernatural and the Wild Hunt is actually the supernatural world’s reaction to what they’re doing by bending science and the supernatural to their will,” Davis said. “So they brought it about themselves in a way. And you’ll see the Clash of Titans that the painting reveals in season 5B.”

So about that painting … Davis wouldn’t reveal details about the painting, other than that one of the figures is a Hellhound, and the other is not.

Where in the world is Doctor Valack? After Valack broke out of Eichen House, he’s been MIA. But Davis promised that we will see him again in the premiere of 5B. “He has a lot to say,” Davis said. “And what you’re also going to realize is he’s not exactly the bad guy he might seem to be. He may actually be one of the good guys.”

The Desert Wolf is coming to town. And she is pissed. “She’s very big in Malia’s story and she’s going to cross paths with Theo actually and they’re going to find that they might have more common goals than they know,” Davis said. “And a lot of it has to do with her relationship with Malia and the reason why she says, ‘If she’s alive, then I’m just going to have to kill her again.’”

There’s more than nudity to Theo’s big reveal. While we’re talking about Theo, Davis revealed that Theo’s ability to transform into a coyote makes him both “very dangerous” and a “talented chimera.” (And yes, Cody Christian was wearing skin-colored underwear in that scene.)

Braeden is sticking around. Not only did Davis say that the writers had been trying to work Braeden back into the story for a while, but he also guaranted that she will be back in 5B.

Could Derek return? With Braeden back, the door is open for Derek to return. Davis simply said the writers aren’t “sure about it yet.”

We haven’t seen the last of Void Stiles. “That’s part of the darkness still lurking inside of Stiles and he’ll have the fear that, is it more than just being possessed? Is there something inside that he has to keep a lid on?” As for the difference between Scott and Theo, Davis added, “Whereas Scott tries to bring out the best in his friends, Theo actually came back for the worst in them. He came back for the angry kid, the killers, and the murderers, he wants that because to him that equates with power.”

There is hope for Roscoe the Jeep. In one of the finale’s more emotional moments, Stiles watched his beloved Jeep get towed away. But worry not, Davis promised there’s still hope. “There is hope for the Jeep,” he said. “Light a candle for the Jeep because the Jeep could still return.

Season 5B is all about resurrection. “We call season 5B a season of resurrection because it’s partly Scott has come back from the dead and he has to bring his pack now back from the dead as well,” Davis said, before adding that they’re currently exploring what side effects Scott might have from his death. “It’s a question of how does death affect him? Will it change him for the worse, for the better? It’s all about what his mother said at the end, give them hope. So he’s got to find hope again.”

Scott and Stiles aren’t making up anytime soon. “It’s going to be rocky still,” Davis said of the beloved friendship. “They were both taken in by an Iago and Theo played them all and pitted them against each other, so they’ve got to get past the underlying resentment and forgive each other and it’s going to take more than one episode.”

Hayden is going to be a changed woman. There’s just something about becoming a chimera, dying, and being brought back to life that changes a person, you know? “All the chimeras that were brought back to life, there is something that’s settled over them, a kind of darkness, partially because they were changed by the Dread Doctors,” Davis said. “They were experiments gone wrong and now brought back to life, they’re all a little bit Frankenstein’s Monster so they’ll each need to be reminded of their humanity. While Scott and Stiles try to rebuild the pack to face what’s coming to Beacon Hills, Liam and Mason will be doing their best to remind the chimeras of their humanity and try to draw them away from Theo.”

Kira’s getting her own episode. After missing out on the fun of the finale, Kira will return in a big way. “We have a really big episode which is all about Kira and Noshiko going off on their own story to try to figure out how to tame the fox spirit within her and it takes place actually in the desert in New Mexico where they have to journey.” In other words, there’s a possibility for a familiar face/place … we hope.

Season 5B picks up the same night as the finale. “511 happens the same night as 510,” Davis said. “Lydia will be taken to Eichen after it’s deemed that her injuries from Theo have essentially driven her into a catatonic state and that the only place that may be able to help her is Eichen House.” Furthermore, Davis teased a “very interesting” story for Lydia at Eichen House. “She’s a bit like Linda Hamilton in the asylum at the beginning of Terminator 2.”

Stiles and Malia are going to have to deal with their dark sides, but romance is still possible. Aside from exploring Stiles’ dark side, Davis said, “Malia has her own dark side to deal with in the fact that she’s going to break Scott’s rules which is that we don’t kill people or at least we don’t murder people, because she’s very determined to murder her mother.” And yet, he promised that “the relationships are very much on our mind every day because we love romance at Teen Wolf and it’s always interesting when they break up, they get back together and seeing the different variations on that and creating these kind of tragic romances.

“One of my favorite romantic scenes from a movie is from Last of the Mohicans when he says, ‘You stay alive! I will find you! Stay alive!’ And those are the kinds of things that we strive for, which are not necessarily scenes of soap opera where one person says I love you, you’re the greatest thing in my life, I couldn’t live without you, but more along the lines of ‘Stay alive becuase I can’t live without you’, which is underneath that. That’s what we strive for.”

10 Really Exciting Movies That Are Coming Out In The Next 30 Days

With one of the most successful summers on record, the book on 2015’s summer tentpoles has been closed. Normally, this would worry us, as this is a stereotypical dead zone for theatrical releases. However, 2015 looks like it was so stuffed with quality releases that they’ve actually scheduled some of this year’s better efforts in a time when your choices are limited to either a rock or a hard place. We know the multiplex looks barren right now. Better things are coming, though, and soon! Enjoy this list of 10 great-looking films that are slated to drop within the next 30 days.
Pawn

Pawn Sacrifice – 9/16

The story of Bobby Fischer’s historic chess match against Soviet champion Boris Spassky in 1972 seems like it would be more fodder for a documentary than a narrative film. But with Tobey Maguire and Liev Schreiber playing the roles of Fischer and Spassky in Pawn Sacrifice, a story that highlights the Cold War in one of its most unlikely battle grounds becomes something notable on the box office calendar. The film promises to delve into Bobby Fischer’s rather interesting and eccentric behavior on, and off, the chess board; and it looks like some top-form acting is going to be the ultimate result if Maguire’s performance in the trailer is anything to go by.

Black Mass – 9/18

With Mortdecai behind him, Johnny Depp could definitely use some films in his “Win” column. Judging by the advanced word we’ve been hearing, as well as the killer pair of trailers Warner Bros has released for the film, it looks like the story of Whitey Bulger and his reign of terror was just the ticket. Even better still, the rest of the film’s cast looks solid as anything, as Joel Edgerton and Benedict Cumberbatch directly flank Depp in the film’s all star cast. Black Mass should  be – at the very least – fun to watch; but with everyone’s favorite Pirate looking scarier and scarier every time we watch the ads for this one – we won’t be surprised if he scares up some Oscar gold come next year.

Everest

Everest – 9/18

Real-life disasters can make for good drama, but only if those involved remember to keep the subject matter at a reasonable level of spectacle. Baltasar Kormákur’s Everest looks like it remembers how to balance the two elements, as well as add in a third factor: heart-stopping fear. One of several entries on this list that manages to use 3D, it looks like if the cast of Everest doesn’t impress you, then the visual prowess of the film’s use of the third dimension just might pick up the slack

Intern

The Intern – 9/25

While The Intern does have the potential to be a lukewarm experience that’s being buried in the September doldrums, all signs point to a charming comedy surprise. While the original pairing of Michael Caine and Tina Fey is too delicious to completely forget, the new teaming of Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro is nothing to sneeze at. Especially because from the looks of it, Robert De Niro is in “charming old man” mode, and it looks really good on him.

Inferno

The Green Inferno – 9/25

After a year of being delayed, Eli Roth’s controversial horror film The Green Inferno is finally seeing its day in cinemas. How controversial has this film become? Enough that its reputation for grossing audiences out has not only almost landed the film an NC-17 rating, but it also has people supposedly passing out at advanced screenings. Glad to see Eli Roth may not have lost his touch after all this time, though we’re intensely curious if this film is as disturbing as folks say it is, or if they just can’t handle good horror in a sea of mediocre studio product.

Grind

Mississippi Grind  – 9/25

Gerry (Ben Mendelsohn) needs a lot of money, and fast – lest his gambling debts leave him unable to walk, or live for that matter. With a crazy plan of traveling down the Mississippi river and hitting all of the gambling action he can – with fellow gambler Curtis (Ryan Reynolds) by his side – what could possibly go wrong? If the fact that Mississippi Grind is the latest film “from the creators of Half Nelson” has anything to say about that, it’s that anything and everything will go wrong – and you’ll either laugh or cry accordingly.

Sicario

Sicario – 9/25

Denis Villeneuve ‘s take on the war on Mexican drug cartels looks to be, at the very least, a star-studded affair – headed up by Emily Blunt’s tough FBI agent, Kate Macer. Knowing Villeneuve’s pacing and usage of suspense, though (particularly from his work on the highly underrated Prisoners), we’re hoping that the action drama Sicario is more of a heart-stopping work of beauty. With Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro joining in on the fun, the odds are looking pretty good that we won’t be disappointed.

Walk

The Walk – 9/30

With Robert Zemeckis making realistic-drama-at-high-altitudes his current thematic obsession (see Flight with Denzel Washington, if you haven’t yet), the legendary director has now turned to history to inspire him once more. The Walk tells the true story of Phillipe Petit’s wire walk between the Twin Towers in 1974, and while we’ve seen this recounted in the 2008 documentary Man On Wire, we now get to see Joseph Gordon Levitt take on the story in a more narrative form. If you thought Everest was going to trigger your vertigo, then the 3D possibilities on this flick will definitely have you covering your eyes with your popcorn bucket.

Martian

The Martian – 10/2

Matt Damon is going to science the shit out of Mars, and to do it, he’s going to need an assorted cast of actors from various disciplines to help him out. With The Martian casting everyone from Kristen Wiig and Donald Glover to Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jessica Chastain (with mainstays like Jeff Daniels and Sean Bean in between), it looks like Damon will have all the help he needs. Drew Goddard’s script and Ridley Scott’s direction both look in top form, balancing the humor and the gravitas of a film that puts Damon’s Mark Watney in the most dangerous spot in the universe – forcing him to carry almost an entire film on his back.

Legend

Legend – 10/2

What’s better than one Tom Hardy kicking ass and taking names? That’s right… TWO Tom Hardys kicking ass and taking names! Take that formula and apply it to the real life story of Ronald and Reginald Kray – the twin kingpins of organized crime in 1960’s London – and you’ve got a concept that doesn’t have to try hard to attract viewers. Of course, the overall sweetener is that Legend also boasts a script written and directed by L.A. Confidential scribe Brian Helgeland – and he definitely knows a thing or two about period crime pieces.

‘ONCE UPON A TIME’ Season 5 Spoilers. The Arrival of the Dark Swan and More Teased

once-upon-time-season-5

Once Upon A Time fans have only one week until the return of the series to ABC. Once Upon A Time Season 5 has been teased as an epic season, and fans will have the chance to see why starting next Sunday.

At the end of Once Upon A Time Season 4, Emma sacrificed herself for Regina’s happy ending. She became the new dark one, and the Dark Swan is the focus of the first half of Once Upon A Time Season 5.

Emma’s family and friends will do all they can to stop her full transition into the Dark Swan. At the end of the episode, Emma vanished. The first scene for the Season 5 premiere, shared in a previous Inquisitr report, showed Hook, Regina, and her family trying to figure out where Emma went when she vanished.

Spoiler TV shared photos from the Once Upon A Time Season 5 premiere, titled “The Dark Swan,” this week, and the photos do show Emma with Rumpelstiltskin. It has been teased in previous spoilers that he will become a mentor for the new dark one. The photos do not show Emma in her dark gear yet though. She is dressed very much like a peasant.

Adam Horowitz teased more about Emma’s dark side to TV Line recently, and fans will see a new side to Emma Swan during Once Upon A Time Season 5.

“She’s a very motivated Dark One. There’s a real driving force behind what she’s doing and why, that we will unfurl. It’s not like a rampant, uncontrollable evil that’s been unleashed. Emma as a non-Dark One was a very smart person who did things for a reason, and I think that translates.”

As for the appearance of Rumple with Emma, Edward Kitsis revealed that fans would learn more about that in opening of the premiere. He said, “She did not travel time; she did travel realms. And why Rumple’s there will be immediately explained within the first act of the premiere.”

There is more to Once Upon A Time Season 5 than Emma Swan. Mulan will return to the series for the upcoming season. Jamie Chung appeared in the role on the series in previous seasons, and she developed feelings for someone. There is a possibility that those feelings would be explored this season.

Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis teased to Entertainment Weekly that they would explore a LGBT relationship this season. Horowitz teased, “We want the show to reflect the world as it is now. Whether that’s going to be with any particular character, we’re not going to say.”

However, with Mulan’s return, many fans are speculating that the relationship in question will be a relationship with Mulan and Aurora. Fans will need to tune in to find out what happens next.

Once Upon A Time will return to ABC on September 27.

Top Ten Scariest Indie Games of All Time

Do you think only hardcore games can scare you? Well you need to check out these ten indie games that can literally make you jump out of your seat.

10.) And Yet It Moves – Self Developed

This will definitely be the least scary title on the list for most of you. Overall it’s just odd and has potential to be scary to some. The art style is like paper cut outs. I think for me it’s the real abstract feel of ‘A Capella’ sound effects and goofy game design that make it seem not right.  It has the tendencies to just have a weird feel to it and actually is a cool experience.

9.) Which – Mike Inel

Very cool visuals and interesting background music make Which one of the more scary games that you could be playing alone. There is some real spooky stuff going on, and you’re wondering in this puzzle style first person horror game. The audio is going to be personal preference for most of you, nothing really scary there. Walking around in this grey world is quite the odd experience though.

8.) FRACT – Richard E Flanagan

Just really strange is one of the best ways to describe FRACT. It has a very abstract and unusual visual style and to be honest, kind of gives me the heebie jeebies. This wont be the last time you hear about me talking about the audio on this list. The audio in FRACT is actually pretty scary, and adds a lot to the experience.

7.) Soul – Kydos Studios

Soul is absolutely gorgeous. If you’re really into drawn art than you will love the visuals of this game. Although it’s not terribly spooky, there is no getting past the idea that you are in fact a soul. The vibration of the control is a heartbeat as you play which plays a minor factor in setting the mood for a late night freak out session.

6.) Uin – YoYo games

Uin looks and feels a bit dated but for some reason it creeps me out. It reminds me of something set in the world of Salad Fingers. It’s really just an odd game and to be honest the art although terribly simple is effective to give you the Goosebumps.  As if it wasn’t enough, Uin has a very spook filled audio section; don’t plan on this being just a regular old plat former. It’s mostly just completely odd, so if you like abstract games don’t miss out.

5.) Decay – Shining Gate Software

Decay is a point and click title for the Xbox 360, and its nothing short of ominous. If you like stuff like silent hill with puzzles and such, that you will probably find a bit of liking to Decay. Assuming you are into the game play similar to Myst. Overall there are some creepy things happening in this game and its worth exploring if you’re looking for a cheap spook.

4.) Devil’s Tuning Fork – The DePaul Game Elites

Just a spectacular idea of a character that plays with echo-location, this means that you see with sound waves. This game gives out some seriously creepy vibes, even though it doesn’t have any type of real visual horror. The audio is scary, there is no way to sugar coat it. The Devils Tuning Fork will seriously creep you out in a dark room by yourself.

3.) The Graveyard – Tale of Tales

The graveyard isn’t totally scary with shock value, but is truly just freaky. You play as a character that roams around a grave yard essentially waiting for death. It is a bit of a work of art to some, and to others just a fun little time burner. Don’t expect to be super creeped out by this, but it’s definitely a darker game.

2.) Amnesia the Dark Descent – Frictional Games

Fractional Games is defiantly one of, if not the best developers for creating games that will scare you to tears.  If you want to seriously experience fear from a video game than load this bad boy up and prepare for the worst. The sound effects alone are enough to make you feel like your really there. Monsters behind doors and running for your life is to be expected.

1.) Penumbra: Overture – Fractional Games

There is really something terribly creepy about running around in the dark with only a flashlight. It also doesn’t help that Penumbra is not only visually good, but the ominous audio sets the mood for a total creep fest. There is an innovative system, while surrounded by monsters; you are encouraged not to look at them. You have a chance of blowing your cover, as you are sneaking around if you see too much.

12 Pieces of Appropriately Geeky Big Bang Theory Trivia

The cast of The Big Bang Theory is on the cover of PEOPLE this week (on newsstands Friday), and as the show enters its eighth season (it’s been renewed through season 10), we’ve gathered some handy trivia to pull out at viewing parties, Comic-Cons, or anywhere BBT fans may assemble. Use it wisely.

big-bang-1024

1. Frequently, Leonard has no actual glass in his glasses.
2. Penny is the only one of the show’s main characters whose last name is still a mystery.
3. Mayim Bialik is the only cast member with a PhD: In 2008, she received her advanced degree in neuroscience.
4. Penny has been using the same purse on the show since the second episode of the first season.
5. The line in the show’s theme, “Autotrophs began to drool,” is a purposeful error/joke: Autotrophs are life forms like plants or algae that create their own energy, and therefore don’t need to eat.
6. The actors actually learned how to play the instruments their characters play on the show (theremin, cello, harp).
7. Melissa Rauch based her character’s voice on her mother’s, “Only without the Jersey.”
8. Sheldon’s “soothing song,” “Soft Kitty,” is based on an Australian children’s song from executive producer Bill Prady’s daughter’s preschool.
9. Jim Parsons has never seen Star Trek or Doctor Who, a fact that would be seriously depressing to Sheldon Cooper.
10. Briefly, a complete rip-off of the show called The Theorists was aired in Belarus. When the actors discovered they were performing in a stolen show, they all quit, which negated the need for legal action from BBT’s creators.
11. Kunal Nayyar (Raj)’s wife, Neha Kapur, is a former Miss India.
12. There’s a species of Brazilian bee named for the show: Euglossa bazinga.

Doctor Strange Has Officially Found Its Leading Lady

There aren’t any big comic book movies coming up in the last few months of 2015, but when 2016 hits, it will bring a veritable tidal wave of superheroes from Marvel, DC, and Fox. So many grown ups running around in tights. One of the characters we’re most excited to see is Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme when he shows up in Doctor Strange next fall, and while we knew Beneict Cumberbatch will play the title character, we now know who his leading lady will be.

According to The Wrap, Rachel McAdams confirmed the rumor that she will star in Doctor Strange while talking to them at the Toronto International Film Festival. While this rumor has been making the rounds for the last few months, and the True Detective Season 2 star has never played demure when it comes to revealing that she was in fact in discussions for the part, which now appears to be all hers.

What we don’t know, however, is what exactly the nature of her role is. We speculated about it a bit back when McAdams’ involvement was first rumored, but we don’t know for sure. She could be Clea, who is Doctor Strange’s most notable love interest in the comics, not to mention related to some of his most powerful adversaries; though there are other notable female characters within his purview, including Victoria Bentley and Morgana Blessing, or it’s possible McAdams could play a wholly original character, one specifically cooked up for the MCU.

McAdams

Directed by Sinister helmer Scott Derrickson, Rachel McAdams joins what has quickly become a fantastic cast. Along with Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role, the call sheet also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Tilda Swinton playing Stephen Strange’s mystical mentor, the Ancient One. We’re very curious about this role, as the character is traditionally male, and Swinton is obviously a woman; and while the initial reaction is to assume the gender has been swapped, there were also rumors going around that Swinton could play the character as male, so it will be interesting to see what happens there. Additionally, Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen will also play an adversarial role in the film.

Moving into Phase 3 of the MCU, Doctor Strange will reportedly continue to expand the boundaries of the movie world, much like how Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man tried to bring something different to the slate of films that are often criticized for being overly homogenous. In pursuit of that goal, they’ve certainly put together a fantastic team of creative in front of and behind the cameras.

Doctor Strange will begin shooting this November, and hit theaters on November 4, 2016.

Doctor Strange Has Officially Found Its Leading Lady

Why DC’s ‘Wonder Woman’ Movie Is So Important

We’re in an age of cinema where superhero movies dominate the landscape of blockbuster releases, both from Marvel Studios and Warner Bros/DC Entertainment. Both studios have a five year plan in place that spans the scope of their respective comic book universes, featuring heroes both old and new. It’s a strategy that so far has made a lot of people a whole bunch of money. Even a decidedly smaller Marvel release like Ant-Man has the potential to bring in a box office haul of over $400 million, making the stakes even higher for films featuring marquee superheroes.

One such hero is Wonder Woman, whose standalone movie from Warner/DC will be hitting theaters in June of 2017. Before then, we’ll get our first look at her in a supporting role, in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Across Marvel and DC’s movie universes, Wonder Woman’s growing presence will represent a groundbreaking event. Why you ask? The reason is simple: Neither studio has put out a female-led film, and it’s past time they did.

Marvel has managed to stay ahead of the game at least in their television sector, with both Agent Carter and November’s Jessica Jones featuring female leads. On the DC side, they have yet to launch their own cinematic universe in earnest, while their collection of wildly popular television series has women playing supporting roles. On the surface, it seems like a small distinction to make; isn’t the job of a studio to make a movie with the best possible story, regardless of the gender of its protagonist? The answer to this question is more complicated than a simple yes or no, and it’s worth emphasizing just how important Wonder Woman will be when it hits theaters.

Much of the justification for the scarcity of female comic book heroes in Hollywood is based around two failed efforts from the mid-00s in Elektra and Catwoman. Studio execs have propped these two subpar efforts up as living proof of how women simply aren’t marketable for wide audiences. The fact of the matter though is that both films flopped at the box office because they were poorly constructed, not because of the women they featured. Flashing forward into the modern era of superhero films, we have Wonder Woman, the first effort since Elektra in 2005 to put a female superhero in the driver’s seat.

Details on the Wonder Woman movie are scarce, but what we do know is that Gal Gadot will be assuming the title role alongside co-star Chris Pine. The story is rumored to date back to World War I, making the titular hero about 200 years old by the time she shows up in Dawn of Justice. More than anything, the reception of Wonder Woman will be a barometer for all future female-led movies with DC and Marvel’s cinematic universe. A well-made movie that does favorably at the box office has the potential to knock over the first domino, especially with Marvel releasing Captain Marvel in the following year.

If Elektra and Catwoman are still being held up as litmus tests for the marketability female superheroes 10 years after the fact, it stands to reason that Wonder Woman will do the same for the modern era of the genre. A lot is riding on that single release, and a successful run in theaters could spell a much-needed proliferation of women in lead roles in future films from both DC and Marvel. The superhero model is one that hasn’t changed much since Marvel mastered it in the late 00s with Iron Man and company, but it could be in for a major shift come 2017. Simply put, Wonder Woman may very well change the way comic book movies are approached for the foreseeable future.

Why DC’s ‘Wonder Woman’ Movie Is So Important

The REAL difference between Marvel and DC

Marvel and DC

Marvel vs. DC.

It’s a question that will be asked until the end of time. And frankly, why not? When two similar franchises are making movies, they are bound to be compared. When arguing, you often hear about

1: The Funny Avengers vs. The Brooding Justice League

2: The box office competition

3: The better story

and so on and so forth.

However.

There is an interesting point that I have not yet heard made in this argument. A point that, while it may not decide who wins the arguement, sheds a bit of light on what has been going on, and what could happen in the future.

The real difference between Marvel and DC is!

*insert drumroll

The actors!!!

.

.

.

No please don’t go! There’s more to this! This whole idea come down to it! I mean, we don’t go to movie that don’t have characters in them do we? That’s why the actors are so important, they draw people into the movie. Many a time has a friend of mine gone to see a movie because they like the actor.

And that’s where the difference lies

All Marvel movies are a part of the MCU or Marvel Cinematic Universe(except for Big Hero 6). Because of that, they need to keep continuity with the actors playing the characters(except for Rhodie….) Because thats what people want to see.

When you see this man:

Do you think Tony Stark/Iron Man? Or do you think Robert Downey Jr?

Marvel has given us actors over and over again to plat roles because that’s what we expect to see in a connected universe.

On the other hand….Batman.

Batman has been played by, soon to be 6, different actors. And that’s fine, because he isn’t in a connected universe, so they can do that.

But is DC doing something more with this???

Yes.

What’s going on is that DC has been doing exactly what Marvel has been trying to avoid. They are intentionally having new actors playing their characters.

Why?

Well its a brilliant idea really.

In comic books we didn’t have a specific actos to root for. Batman was Batman, in any iteration. That’s what DC is trying to replicate. With different actors playing the same person, one doesn’t get as engrossed on the actor because, well, they’ll be gone soon. And if the movie flops (here’s looking at you Batman and Robin) they can blame the actor and get right on to the next movie.

But will DC buck that trend now that they are starting to have a Universe of its own? Only time will tell.

The REAL difference between Marvel and DC

20 Playstation games you’ll want to play on PS Now

PS Now is a streaming service offered on the PS4 that will allow users to access a large selection of titles from the Playstation, PS2, PS3, and PS Vita library. With half of my old Playstation discs scratched or lost, this will give me the opportunity to conveniently play them again in the highest quality.

Honestly, I can’t wait to play some of my favorites like Final Fantasy 8 and Tomb Raider 2 again. There’s a nostalgic list put together by USgamer of 20 PS1 Games you will definitely want to play on PS Now, and we highlight a few of them here…

Resident Evil 2

I appreciated the original Resident Evil from afar, but Resident Evil 2 marks the first time the series really clicked with me. It still features those dated tank controls, but thanks to the guidance of Platinum’s Hideki Kamiya, Resident Evil 2 feels much more refined and far less clunky than its predecessor. If you’re looking to jump into a classic survival horror game, Resident Evil 2 makes for one of the most accessible choices, and the DualShock version even features an easy mode to help spoiled modern gamers (me included) deal with the demands of 1998 gaming. – Bob Mackey

Final Fantasy Tactics

I’ve already written about FF Tactics before, but let me just state this again: Final Fantasy Tactics is an amazing tactical strategy RPG, the likes of which has yet to be surpassed by Square Enix. Tactics Advance and Tactics A2 were okay, but they were no Tactics. Others have raided the hill to take the throne, but for me, no one has succeeded yet.

Like Alpha 3, Tactics is available on the PlayStation Store, but it needs to be available to players on Sony’s subscription service. Until it is, I shall continue to be the game’s prophet, preaching of its greatness until the time that its holiness gets a proper sequel. – Mike Williams

Ridge Racer

I’m nominating this classic Namco arcade port for purely selfish reasons. It was the first game I played on PS1, and it just blew me away. At a time when most were still used to playing 16-bit classics like Aladdin and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, Ridge Racer looked every inch the generational leap forward it represented.

I’ve still got my original PS1 long box version of the game – one of the few PS1 games I’ve kept over the years. But since I don’t have a console to play it on, having the chance to drift sideways down memory racetrack would be great! – Jaz Rignall

Street Fighter Alpha 3

Street Fighter is a series with a long history so I’m sure fighting aficionados all have their personal favorite game in the franchise. For some that may be Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, or Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, but the spot in my heart will always be occupied by Street Fighter Alpha 3.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 is the pinnacle of the series, unless you count its various ports like Alpha 3 MAX. 33 distinct and well-animated characters (37 in MAX), the ISM system allowing you to choose your playstyle, Alpha Counters, and the kick-ass World Tour mode. World Tour allowed you to take you favored character into fighting challenges to gain experience and abilities to improve them. It was such a fun mode for my friends and I; being able to spring your new custom character on someone is great.

3 Big Signs That Batman Is Becoming The Crown Jewel Of The DC Comics Films

BvS

Ben Affleck’s Right-Hand Man Punched Up The BvS Script

After working with Ben Affleck to bring Argo — the story of the CIA pretending to make a science fiction movie to rescue six Americans trapped in Iran during the 1980s — to life, Chris Terrio came in to overhaul the Batman v Superman script. He was brought on board to take a whack at punching up the script originally written by Man of Steel scribe David S. Goyer (who also had a hand in the scripts for Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films). He reportedly did heavy rewrites to what Goyer turned in.

Moving forward, Terrio, who also has an Oscar on his shelf thanks to Argo, has been tapped to tackle the scripts for the superhero team ups we’ll see in Justice League, Part One in 2017 and Justice League, Part Two, which drops in 2019. As Affleck and Terrio’s stock continues to rise, it’s becoming more and more clear who the focus of the DCEU is going to be, and that it’s Batman. On the other hand, Henry Cavill is still struggling to find an identity outside of his role as Superman, and this summer’s flop The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is not doing him any favors (which is a shame, because the movie is actually a lot of fun).

We’ll see how all of this shakes out over the next few years, starting when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016.

Robert Downey Jr. Confirms The Future Of Iron Man 4

Robert Downey Jr. Confirms The Future Of Iron Man 4 image

It was just last year that Robert Downey Jr. signed a contract extension with Marvel Studios, confirming him for appearances in both The Avengers: Age of Ultron and the inevitable Avengers 3, but one title that was left out of all the talks was any plans for Iron Man 4. Many took this as a sign that the number of Tony Stark solo films would be ending at three – and today new quotes have arrived that pretty much confirm that speculation.

“There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.” That was the rather blunt response that Downey Jr. gave to Variety recently when asked about the potential future of the successful comic book franchise. The actor is currently up at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting his new movie The Judge, which is the actor’s first dramatic film since 2009’s The Soloist.

Anyone who is in any way familiar with the history of contract talks between Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel shouldn’t be too surprised that the star’s stay as Tony Stark may not extend past The Avengers 3. As, statistically, the biggest draw in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Downey Jr. has long had an upper hand in negotiations with the company – to the point where he even got them to pay him $50 million for his work in The Avengers – a figure that he himself has confirmed. Because of these hardball tactics, there was a time when there was a possibility that the Oscar-nominee wouldn’t be in The Avengers 2 – and writer/director Joss Whedon even said that he wouldn’t do the movie without him. It’s not hard to see why Marvel might not be eager to jump back into contract extension conversations for an Iron Man 4.

Furthermore, while Downey Jr. was undoubtedly an extremely important player in the establishment of Marvel Studios as a blockbuster success, the company has been doing just fine making movies without him recently. James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Joe and Anthony Russo’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier currently stand as the two biggest domestic releases of the year, and both achieved their positions without Iron Man’s presence (provided you ignore the blink-and-you-miss-it photo of the character in the latter film). It’s true that Downey Jr. has appeared in all of the studio’s top four titles, but the comic book giant is learning how to achieve big things without the star’s presence.

So, if Iron Man 4 isn’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Three plans – what projects are coming up? In addition to Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man, the Russos’ Captain America 3, and Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2, they are also working on seven untitled projects that will be coming out between now and 2019 – three of which are all but confirmed to be Doctor Strange, Thor 3, and The Avengers 3. Will Iron Man’s presence be missed, or do you think Marvel can move on without him?

New, Different Avengers Are Coming This Spring, Check Out Marvel’s Mysterious Update

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be introducing moviegoers to new superheroes later this year when Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Vision are thrown into the mix. However, the highly anticipated blockbuster won’t be the only Marvel project that will see big changes with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Earlier today, Marvel posted a mysterious message on their Facebook page hinting at a lineup change for the Avengers later this year.

“All-New, All Different”…quite the enigmatic tagline. What exactly this means is unclear, although at the minimum comic readers can expect a new lineup of heroes for the team in May. Since their creation in 1962, the Avengers lineup has been constantly changing. Old members leave, new members are recruited, some people come back to the team, it’s a recurring cycle. Considering that May is also when The Avengers: Age of Ultron is coming out, it’s not surprising that Marvel wants to line up their team shift-up with the film’s release. It’s all about that synergy between the different platforms.

Although Marvel often likes to spotlight characters that are being featured in their movies and TV shows, the “All-Different” part of the teaser suggests that the new team of Avengers won’t necessarily look like the one in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. The team shift is occurring soon after one chapter of the Avengers comes to a close. Earlier this week, Marvel announced that their Avengers and New Avengers books would print their last issues in April as their writer Jonathan Hickman is penning the 8-issue event Secret Wars, which will see a variety of Marvel heroes and villains fighting on Battleworld, a planet comprised of different locations from Marvel’s multiverse.

Marvel is notorious for renumbering their books after certain storylines have been wrapped up, so even though Hickman’s run on the Avengers books is ending, it was unlikely the company wasn’t going to replace them with new Avengers adventures. This lineup change is reminiscent of the series Uncanny Avengers, which was one of the many books introduced during the Marvel NOW relaunch. While Avengers mainstays like Captain America and Thor remained part of the team, mutants like Havok and Rogue, who are typically X-Men members, were also recruited. If we’re taking this announcement at its word, than the May lineup could be much more dramatically different. This new team could include other X-Men, Inhumans, a few villains looking for redemption or even alternate versions of superheroes. The possibilities are numerous!

So Avengers fans, if the more recent iterations of the team haven’t been to your liking, head to your nearest comic book shop in May, and prepare yourself for the unexpected.
