Jotun Guide: How to Beat Hagalaz the Storm God

Jotun Guide: How to Beat Hagalaz the Storm God

Jotun guide hagalaz storm god

If you play through Jotun in the proper order then Hagalaz is the last boss you have to defeat before heading to the final battle. This means she’s even harder than the ones you’ve fought through before, which should give you pause. However, if you know the patterns and figure out the best strategy then you can take her down, it just might take a couple of tries. Here’s some tips and tricks to take down Hagalaz and finish Jotun once and for all.

Hagalaz is all about lightning and electricity. It’ll be flying around, so avoid it at all costs, but it will also be your main adversary. There are four pillars around the battlefield which you can use to take down Hagalaz. Of course you can just stand underneath her and whale away with the weak attack, but this will take too long and you’ll probably die before you have a chance to take her down.

Hagalaz has two main attacks, a directed electricity beam and lightning. You’ll want to use these to hit the four pillars. The best way to do this is to get near Hagalaz, attacking when you have an opening. Once she starts charging her directed attack, be sure you are standing between her and an unpowered tower. The attack will hit it, powering it up.

If she fires off her lightning attack you’ll have to do some running, avoiding the white circles that signal an incoming strike. Head toward the nearest unpowered tower, moving away as soon as a white circle appears near it. If you can’t roll out of the way of an incoming lightning strike use Heimdall’s Shield if you have it. While you’ll still get blinded, you won’t take the massive damage you would otherwise.

Once all four towers are electrified they’ll cause lightning to hit Hagalaz directly, making her pass out for a bit. You have enough time here to hit her with two strong attacks, or one hit of Thor’s Hammer. Do this over and over till you get to the last half, where things change a bit.

Halfway through the battle Hagalaz will split into two beings. This isn’t a mirage or magic trick, there are actually two of her, which means you can hit either one to deal damage, one of the few good things that happens in Jotun. Target whichever one is easiest to hit, and repeat the strategy above.

It is now even more important that you power up the four towers, because they’ll knock out both versions of Hagalaz when they strike. This gives you a total of four strong attacks on her, if you’re quick enough to get between them.

If the towers are a no-go for some reason, you can actually get one Hagalaz to attack the other with their directed electricity strike. This will knock out the on, but leave the other standing, so if they’ve called lightning down on you, be sure to stay on the move.

Just keep all of this up, electrifying the towers as much as possible, and you’ll soon take down Hagalaz. Good luck!

Cube World is Back from the Dead, Receiving First Update in Over a Year

Cube World Update

Cube World was quite the indie darling back when it went on sale a few years ago. Long in development, which is understandable as the game is being made by just Wolfram von Funck and his wife Sarah von Funck, the game has been only intermittently available, and has received few updates along the way. All development seemed to stop back in July of 2013 though, with the game still up for sale until July 2015. After that Cube World was seemingly dead, receiving no updates, and not even remaining available to purchase.

That has ended though, with the developer tweeting out news that updates would be arriving, with hints of more to come. These aren’t major updates, not even touching gameplay mechanics, but they are the first signs of life of a game that was apparently long gone. The updates add extra music to the game, which you can already listen to on SoundCloud to get a taste for what is being added.

While this update doesn’t change much, it has sparked a resurgence in the community, with fans welcoming Funck back to the game and proclaiming an end to their long wait for updates. Many wonder if this is the start of a new chapter in Cube World history, with the possibility of more changes to come. Of course, Funck could just go back to not working on the game once again. Time will tell, but for now Cube World fans have hope where they used to have none.

Minecraft Halloween Mash Up Pack

UPDATE: Developer 4J Studios has clarified that the Halloween Mash-Up pack will hit “all platforms”, so expect it on PS3, PS4, and PS Vita as well.

The annual Halloween Mash-Up pack is coming once again to Minecraft for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. This year’s edition features a bunch of fun and spooky items that players can use in their games. Just like other Mash-Up packs, players will have a pre-built world to play in, which uses all of the new textures and features. The Halloween Mash-Up pack hits Minecraft on October 23rd.

“Boo! It´s that time of year when ghouls and ghosts haunt your Minecraft creations. The Halloween Mash-up pack includes 43 terrifying character skins – vampires, mad scientists and other creepy crawlers. You´ll find a brand new world full of scary blocks and an eerie soundtrack that will make your heart skip a beat. So don´t be afraid and build your spooky worlds.”

Check out the trailer below to see this new world and all of its features in action. The player skins are probably going to be a big favorite for players, letting them cosplay as a ghost, vampire, or other traditional Halloween creatures. A haunted house seems to have been built, with different minecart tracks for players to run through and enjoy. You can then modify, destroy, or just build your own stuff around the world as you see fit.
