Stan Lee Reveals his Least Favorite Marvel Movies

Want to know what Stan Lee‘s least favorite Marvel movies are? In a recent interview at the 2012 Fan Expo in Canada, the comic book legend talked about his characters being adapted for the big screen. He loved The Avengers, but didn’t seem to really care for some of the other films that were made before Marvel started making their own movies.

I would have liked the Hulk to be smaller in the first two movies, and I didn’t like the way Doctor Doom was portrayed in Fantastic Four. Now with Daredevil, they just wrote the whole thing wrong. They made him too tragic. That’s not the way I wrote him. I think they’re working on a new Daredevil movie and it will be better, so hold your judgment until then.

He then goes on to talk about about some of the Marvel superheroes he’d like to see up on the big screen,

Deadpool is such a popular character, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t in his own movie in the near future, or introduced in another movie first. They’re thinking about a Doctor Strange movie, a Black Panther movie, an Ant-Man movie—there’s just so many ideas in the works right now at Marvel!

He obviously isn’t up to date on what’s going on in the Marvel movie world. The Daredevil movie has been scrapped, and Fox is letting the rights revert back to Marvel. Deadpool has been in development for years, but is currently sitting in hell. As for Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Ant-Man, all of them are in development with scripts, but Ant-Man is the closest one to getting the green light.

What are your thoughts on Fantastic Four, the way Doctor Doom was Portrayed, and Daredevil?

Emily Blunt on Captain Marvel and the Two Marvel Roles She Turned Down

Emily Blunt on Captain Marvel and the Two Marvel Roles She Turned Down

Emily Blunt has had two chances so far to play a Marvel character, but she turned both of them down. The first role was Black Widow, which she had to turn down because she was contractually obligated to star in another movie at 20th Century Fox. That movie was the horrendous Gulliver’s Travel with Jack Black. Personally, I think she would have made an amazing Black Widow. Don’t get me wrong! Scarlett Johansson is great as Black Widow, and she owns the part, but after seeing Blunt kick-ass in Edge of Tomorrow… damn, I could see her being a great Black Widow, as well. The other role that she walked away from was Peggy Carter.

The two roles came up in a conversation with Vulture, when they asked if she had been offered the chance to play Captain Marvel, to which she replied:

“No one’s offered me that officially, so it’s… very unofficial. I think it’s fan-casting, which is always very nice. But nothing official has been offered, for sure. If I get it, thank Meryl [Streep] for it!”

I’d love to see her in the role of Captain Marvel. The studio obviously wants to bring her into their cinematic universe. There’s always a chance that Captain Marvel could be their chance. She then talked about why she turned down the first two offers from Marvel, saying,

“It was never the right time, really, and it just didn’t work out scheduling-wise with those two. It’s always a difficult thing to talk about, because it’s not fair to the actresses who ended up playing them, you know? It just wasn’t the right time.”

Even if Blunt doesn’t play Captain Marvel, I’m sure one day she will be introduced as a character in the MCU. The question is, who will it be?!

POKKEN TOURNAMENT Coming to Wii U Spring 2016

POKKEN TOURNAMENT Coming to Wii U Spring 2016

The popular Japanese arcade game and first Pokemon fighting game Pokken Tournament is coming to the U.S! Kotaku reports we should see the game hit shelves stateside in Spring 2016. Obviously this is awesome news for Wii U owners, Pokemon fans, and fighting game fanatics.

The game is almost more comparable in style to Power Stone than Street Fighter, as the movement of fighters looks fairly fluid and open. No official roster has been announced yet, but the Pokemon I’ve seen include Machamp, Lucario, Pikachu, Charizard, Guardevoir, Gengar, Suicune, Weavile, and Blaziken. I’m sure we’ll see more annonuced as the date draws closer.

I was super jealous when I first heard about this game and watching all the footage of people playing it in Japan gets me all the more hyped! See some of the game in action below!

Kate Upton, Dakota Fanning, and More Up For FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM

Warner Bros. is stepping back into the Harry Potter universe with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a separate story that takes place 70 years before Potter shows up at Hogwarts. This film follows Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), a “magizoologist” who wrote one of the textbooks that Harry and his friends eventually study. Author J.K. Rowling is making her screenwriting debut, and Potter helmer David Yates is returning to direct.

The Wrap reports that several actors have appeared on a new shortlist for roles in the film. Dakota Fanning, Saoirse Ronan, Lili Simmons (Banshee), and Alison Sudol (Transparent, Dig) are in contention for the role of Queenie, while supermodel Kate Upton (The Other Woman), Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice), and Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby) are being eyed for the role of Tina, Queenie’s older sister. In the book, Newt Scamander is married to a woman named Porpentina, so it seems like this “Tina” role is that of his eventual wife. The report states that several of these actresses have test deals in place and are expected to read opposite Redmayne over the next week, so I expect we’ll be hearing an official casting announcement soon.

In addition, Variety’s Justin Kroll says that a few actors are up for the role of Jacob, Newt’s rival: Steve Zissis (who is great on the HBO series Togetherness), Zack Pearlman (The Inbetweeners), and Dan Fogler (Fanboys) are among them.

Fantastic Beasts hits theaters on November 18, 2016. Who would you like to see join the cast?

WE’RE THE MILLERS’ Will Poulter Suits Up with Brad Pitt in Netflix’s WAR MACHINE

WE’RE THE MILLERS’ Will Poulter Suits Up with Brad Pitt in Netflix’s WAR MACHINE

Son of Rambow, We’re The Millers, and The Maze Runner actor Will Poulter will reportedly star alongside Brad Pitt in Pitt’s new Netflix movie War Machine.

Variety has the news, and they also confirm that Topher Grace, Scoot McNairy, Emory Cohen, John Magaro, and Anthony Michael Hall are all also on board in the story of a rock star general (Pitt) who is placed in charge of America’s conflict in Afghanistan. Writer-director David Michôd (The Rover, Animal Kingdom) will be behind the camera on this one, and the movie will hit both the streaming platform and select theaters sometime next year.

In a surprise bit of casting, Poulter was recently set to play Pennywise the Clown in Cary Fukunaga’s two-movie take on Stephen King’s It, but since Fukunaga has left the project (Mama director Andy Muschietti recently took over), that casting may not stick. Still, Poulter will appear opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy in The Revenant later this year, so even if all of this somehow falls through, he’ll still be in what’s likely to be one of the most-watched films of this year’s award season.
