James Gunn Releases Another Piece Of The Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Score
Last week, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn flew to London to work on the film’s score. Over at Abbey Road Studios, Gunn joined composer Tyler Bates as he composed the music for the upcoming Marvel movie.
While the director previously shared the first pieces of the score during a Facebook Live video, he decided to leave fans with one more sneak peak before heading back to the States.
A video posted by James Gunn (@jamesgunn) on
On his personal Instagram account, Gunn shared a look at a chorus recording pieces of the music. The group vocal artists sounds incredible together, and will surely add to the already-promising composition of Guardians Vol. 2.
Fans have enjoyed Gunn’s sharing of this behind-the-scenes work, as it helps to bring them closer to the filmmaking process. Instead of just seeing a finished product in the theater, Gunn helps viewers to realize how much it takes to make a movie happen. He allows people to see other folks – just like them – help bring the Guardians to life.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).

Agents Of SHIELD: Could Bobbi And Hunter Return?
Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) were part of the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD family for two seasons, with Bobbi debuting as a triple agent and Lance joining in as her nearly clueless mercenary ex-husband.
Bobbi and Lance sacrificed their career in espionage to save their teammates and were honored with a “spy’s goodbye” from Coulson’s team. That wasn’t supposed to be the end for them. Palicki and Blood were meant to reprise their characters in the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD spinoff titled Marvel Most Wanted.
ABC passed on Most Wanted. Now fans wonder if Bobbi and Lance could be headed by to Agents of SHIELD. According to the showrunners, probably not.
“One can only dream,” Agents of SHIELD executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen tells Entertainment Weekly. “That’s always on our minds.”
“Once an agent, always an agent, so it’s always out there in the ether,” executive producer Jed Whedon adds. “But right now we’re taking a breather.”
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. In the next episode, “Hot Potato Soup,” Agents Sam and Billy Koenig (Patton Oswalt) are hunted down to get at the Darkhold book, and only Coulson and the team can save them before the clock ticks out.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with a vengeance for the fourth exciting season in an all new time period, Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. ET. In the aftermath of their journey to another planet, Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the team were driven more than ever to put an end to the Hydra organization. Little did they know that they were up against the deadliest threat they’ve ever faced – an extremely powerful Inhuman, Hive, who was transported back from Maveth in the body of their worst enemy, Grant Ward. The team was able to thwart and kill Hive and take down Hydra, but they are all still mourning the death of fellow agent and Inhuman, Lincoln Campbell.”
New Spider-Man Animated Series Will Debut In 2017
Our favorite web-slinger has a brand new animated series on the way.
Marvel’s Spider-Man will premiere next year on Disney XD, bringing fans back to his early days of being both a teenager and a superhero.
Marc Buhaj, senior vice president of programming and general manager for Disney XD announced:
“Spider-Man is the biggest action hero in the world. He is an iconic character whose duality makes him both relatable and aspirational for the Disney XD audience. He promises “a fresh take on a beloved classic that will engage both new and existing Spidey fans with its compelling drama, exciting action and the signature sense of comedy.”

With Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man (involving a team-up Nick Fury and SHIELD) coming to an end around January 2017, fans will have a younger, more inexperienced Peter Parker series to look forward to.
The new series will focus on Peter Parker learning how to come into his own superpowers while facing the pressures of being a normal teen. Headed up by Kevin Shinick (Robot Chicken) and supervising director Philip Pignotti (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble), Marvel’s Spider-Man will have a back to basics approach.
Cort Lane, senior vice president of Marvel Animation and Family Entertainment added, “The simple title reflects a back-to-basics approach, it’s just filled with heart and humor.”
2017 is going to be a big year for the young Peter Parker with the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland and now the new animated series Marvel’s Spider-Man.

It was pretty funny seeing Iris and Joe question Barry about how upset he got with Wally for disobeying his orders in last week’s winter premiere of The Flash. During the first-half of the season, their fears about Wally’s safety hindered his speedster progress, so they should be happy that Barry wants Wally to only shadow him at this point in his training. One does not become a hero overnight.
Even so, by the end of the episode, The Flash has the bright idea of going after Plunder with Kid Flash and lets his new sidekick capture plunder and get the credit. By changing who took down Plunder, Barry was able to prove that the future is fluid, not fixed. Now he knows with certainty that Iris’s future death at the hands of Savitar can be prevented by his present-day choices.
Now check out a cool new poster (via The Flash Brasil) with Kid Flash and The Flash running side-by-side, and its tagline reads: “LIGHTNING STRIKES TWICE.”

H.R.’s (Tom Cavanagh) past catches up with him when a bounty hunter with vibe powers named Gypsy (guest star Jessica Camacho) arrives in Central City to bring him back to Earth-19 to stand trial for his crime. It turns out inter-dimensional travel is illegal on their Earth. H.R. surrenders but when Barry (Grant Gustin) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) find out that H.R.’s only hope would be to challenge Gypsy to a fight to the death, they intercede and Cisco offers to fight Gypsy instead.
Harry Jierjian directed the episode with story by Benjamin Raab and Deric A. Hughes and teleplay by Zack Stentz

Marvel Teases Future Spider-Man Animation Projects
We might see some newer Spider-Man storylines on Disney XD’s new cartoon adaptation premiering later this year.
Marvel’s Spider-Man has been teased as a back-to-basics approach for the wall crawler after Ultimate Spider-Man concludes, and concept art has teased new spider characters such Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen.
Bit in a recent interview with CBR promoting the finale of Avengers: Ultron Revolution, Marvel Animation Vice President Steve Wacker revealed that his team is looking to adapt more contemporary comic book stories, including Superior Spider-Man.
“That was the last big story I worked on in the comics side with Dan Slott,” Wacker said. “I’m not quite sure how we get there, but I’d love to see it.”
He also hinted at another recent event that shook up the Spidey mythos in the comics.
“We’ll get to Spider Island at some point. That was a big Spider-Man story in publishing,” Wacker added.
He said he’d like to see newer stories like Annihilation than Kree/Skrull War or Spider Man: No More, perhaps hinting at a future storyline for the Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon.
Whether these developments are on the horizon or a ways away is still up in the air, as Marvel’s Spider-Man has yet to premier. Look for more information in the coming months as a release date is locked down.
Hugh Jackman Admits To Early Struggles Playing Wolverine
Hugh Jackman is now famous for bringing X-Men icon Wolverine to life for the X-Men movies franchise, but that wasn’t always the case. Jackman just filmed his final performance as Wolverine for the upcoming movie Logan. Now that his 18-year-long journey is over, Jackman is opening up a bit about how he struggle with the role of Wolverine.
Jackman tells E! News that getting into character for the original X-Men movie wasn’t easy.
“I was kind of struggling, to be honest,” Jackman said. “It was the first movie I had ever done in America. I was pretty tight. I was nervous. I was average, to be honest, at best. No one was saying anything and I sort of thought I was getting away with it, but I wasn’t.”
It took a little tough love from studio executive Tom Rothman to get Jackman back on track.
“He told me that he believed in me, that from the moment he’d seen my tape he had a gut feeling I was the guy, but watching my dailies was like watching someone put a lampshade over a light,” Jackman admitted.
That was probably a tough pill for Jackman to swallow, but it seems Rothman was right to believe in Jackman. Once Jackman got over that initial struggle, he came to own the role of Wolverine over eight films and became an icon of superhero cinema.
Logan takes place in the year 2029, where mutant births have become extremely rare. The defenders of mutant kind, the X-Men, are long gone, and the only remains of them are an old and struggling Charles Xavier and a weary Logan. Logan’s vaunted healing factor has slowed, and at times doesn’t seem to work at all. When a young mutant needs his help, Logan has to unsheathe his claws once more. His job isn’t over yet.
Logan stars Hugh Jackman (Logan), Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Doris Morgado (Maria), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice). James Mangold is directing and helped on the screenplay along with Scott Frank and Michael Green.
Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
Jim Parsons Teases Who Will Play Young Sheldon Cooper In Big Bang Theory Spin-Off
While walking the red carpet at the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, Jim Parsons was asked if an actor has been chosen yet to potray the 12-year-old version of Sheldon Cooper for The Big Bang Theory spinoff series—which CBS is developing and is simply titled: Sheldon.
“We do,” Parsons told ET’s Nancy O’Dell, when she asked if a lead had been chosen. “They’re supposed to release it but I’m not going to say.”
Okay, so what could Parsons share about the young actor? “He’s wonderful,” he shared. “So many kids sent in [tapes] and it was really overwhelming. But this one little guy was really special.”
Since Parsons has played the character for ten seasons and is executive producing the series—along with Big Bang co-creator Chuck Lorre and showrunner Steve Molaro—his input on the casting process was welcomed. “Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro are really heading it but they’re always really sweet about asking, ‘What would you think?’ and I’m like, ‘I think it’s great,'” he added. “I kind of don’t want to get in the way too much because whoever the kids is has to do his own thing. You know what I mean? If it’s going to be special it has to be related to what’s going on but also it’s own creature, you know? I’m excited about it though.”

Sheldon beta-tests an MIT invention after hearing it can help him read people’s emotions. Also, Leonard can’t hide his feelings when Penny announces her brother is coming to town, and Raj invites his ex-girlfriends over to give him dating advice.
The main cast features Johnny Galecki as Leonard, Jim Parsons as Sheldon, Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Simon Helberg as Wolowitz, Kunal Nayyar as Koothrappali, Mayim Bialik as Amy, and Melissa Rauch as Bernadette.
The recurring cast includes Laura Spencer as Emily Sweeney, Kate Micucci as Lucy, Alessandra Torresani as Claire, and Katie Leclerc as Emily.
The story was created by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Eric Kaplan. The teleplay was written by Steve Holland, Jim Reynolds, and Saladin K. Patterson. It was directed by Mark Cendrowski.
“The Emotion Detection Automation” episode of The Big Bang Theory will air Thursday, Feb. 2 at 8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.

How The Founder Sets Up a Marvel Comics Movie
The Founder tells the story of Ray Kroc, an American entrepreneur who would not discover the success he dreamed of until his 50s. It was then that he encountered the first McDonald’s, a bustling enterprise in San Bernadino, and worked with the owners to franchise the concept across America and then the world. Eventually, he took over the entire corporation, forcing the original creators out and making himself one of the richest and cementing his legacy in American business and culture. It’s a fascinating tale and one that The Founder tells with stunning style and purpose.
While The Founder may not have been a big hit upon its opening weekend, it’s not for a lack of talent or effort. Unfortunately, it appears to have been a victim of studio mismanagement and poor timing. What should have been an Oscar contender has been left to wallow in January. It may still have more to give than a chance for all of us to catch a great, underappreciated flick this weekend though. The Founder is a story of American business, big personalities, and “true”-ly legendary happenings. It also parralels the story of Marvel Comics in all of these aspects.
The Founder lays out a model for the telling of the Marvel story and shows how such a tale could be just as fascinating as the superhero stories they sell tickets to today. Here’s why some smart producers ought to be looking at this as an opportunity to tell the story behind the heroes.

A True American Story
Movies have been using the phrase “Base on a true story” for decades. It’s for a good reason too. We love to see stories about what can really be done or, at least, what seems possible. Whether it exposes the good or bad of humanity, “true” stories are easier to believe and accept than those filled with fantastic characters for many. The great thing about the story of early Marvel Comics is that just like the early expansion of McDonald’s, it’s a true story that’s 100% true.
Sean Howe’s history Marvel: The Untold Story has been praised both for its research and enthralling narrative. Every bit of the company’s history is packed with tantalizing anecdotes and drama, enough to form the foundation an entire television series. The early years are especially potent with events occurring on a monthly basis. It’s a story about people with big dreams, a company with a big future, and fictions that would encompass the world. And it’s all true.
Bigger Than Life Characters
The Founder wouldn’t work if it weren’t for the personality of Ray Kroc. Love him or hate him (and the film definitely leans towards the latter) he was able to fill an entire room with his charisma and ego. No matter how successful or influential a company may be, a story is only as interesting as its characters. The men and women who populated Marvel Comics in the 1960s were absolutely fascinating.
Everyone knows Stan Lee as the charming huckster and renowned writer of many Marvel creations, but he’s far from the only leading man in this story. Both Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko were just as essential to the early success of Marvel Comics, if not more so, and came with their own big personalities. Kirby was a hard-working family man with a penchant for chomping cigars and thinking of so many ideas he could barely drive a car. Ditko was an eccentric objectivist who pulled ever deeper into his shell leading to bigger philosophical proclamations and conflicts with colleagues. Any one of these three men could be the star of a film, together they’re a trio that absolutely must be explored.

The Stuff of Legends
True events and big personalities aren’t enough to make a great film; there has to be something more. That’s something the story of Marvel Comics has though. The Founder isn’t just about the growth of McDonald’s, in fact it’s not really about that at all. It is a story about capitalism, innovation, and corruption. If you have a chance to see The Founder, you’ll notice parallels to many modern narratives in and out of business. What makes it a great film is that it’s about so much more than what’s in the synopsis.
That’s true to the founding of Marvel Comics and it’s explosive growth in the 1960s, as well. It was a time in which the rules surrounding intellectual property were vague and the company was just as likely to go under as survive for another year. Knowing the outcome doesn’t make those days any less treacherous or the coming conflicts any less disastrous. There are many parallels between those early days at Marvel and the same at McDonald’s. While some might seek to cast villains and heroes purely, the situations were complex and help expose the complexities found in creation, advancement, and success. Those ambiguities don’t just make for some good stories, they also make for the sort of legends that never grow stale.
Marvel: The Untold Story
No matter how The Founder fares in the weeks ahead (hopefully better once the word gets out), it does lay out a clear path to success for Marvel Comics to follow. Pitching the concept of “McDonald’s: The Movie” may not be easy, but the world has never been more interested in the heroes of Marvel Comics than they are today. There has been talk of a fictional film recasting Stan Lee as a superspy, but that’s so much less interesting than the real story behind the early days of this comics juggernaut.
All of the elements that make The Founder so compelling are easily found within the history of Marvel Comics, as well. A quick read of the early chapters in Marvel: The Untold Story make it clear just how much potential can be found in the lives of creators like Kirby, Ditko, and Lee. What they accomplished has continued to shake the comics medium, the superhero genre, and the American entertainment industry. People care about what they accomplished and the story of how they did it is every bit as fascinating. Yet for many that story remains untold; it’s about time that a studio changes that and gives these creators a fair shake in theaters right alongside the heroes they created.
Marvel Releases New Trailer For Inhumans Vs. X-Men
Marvel has just released a new trailer hyping up the Inhumans vs. X-Men event series to their YouTube page off the heels of the release of issue #3.
The trailer gives a brief overview of the event with some animated scenes based on artwork from Aaron Kuder, Leinil Francis Yu, Kenneth Rocafort and Javier Garrón.
This new video summarizes some of the happenings that transpired, bringing these two factions of superhumans closer to their inevitable battle currently taking place.
Specifically, it highlights the X-Men’s destruction of one Terrigen Cloud, while also showing the murder of Cyclops at the hands of Black Bolt (however, readers of Death of X may recall that the event did not occur exactly as most people remember it, thanks to the machinations of Emma Frost.)
Issues #0 through #3 are currently out in stores and on digital storefronts, and Inhumans vs. X-Men #4 is set for release on February 8th.

Can (Or Should) The CW Make The Arrowverse Any Bigger At This Point?
This week, The CW announced that they were renewing the entire slate of Arrowverse shows, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow for new seasons next year, joining Jane the Virgin, My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Supernatural.
It shouldn’t be a huge surprise, given that all four of these shows routinely outperform everything else on the channel, and as I remarked last year, each of them has been doing incredibly well in their respective seasons this year. What was a bit unexpected was the announcement that Constantine would join the CW line-up of shows, albeit as an animated series on CW Seed. It disappointed some who thought the CW might pick up the entire show that NBC discarded, but it should please fans that star Matt Ryan is voicing Constantine, and surely the character will be appearing in the flesh in other CW shows. CW Seed’s last Arrowverse outing, Vixen, ended up not just guesting on Arrow, but becoming a regular on Legends of Tomorrow this season.
Still, it raises the issue, is it possible for The CW’s Arrowverse to continue to grow at this point with four shows now in its quiver? Obviously, there are still major DC characters missing from the roster, but I have to wonder if the universe has hit a logical limit.
This might be the “sweet spot” for DC TV, given that adding any more shows to the Arrowverse would not just stretch the budget of the network, but the patience of fans. Keeping track of four shows in a given week (plus other superhero shows geeky fans might be keeping up with on other channels) is already a tall order, and adding another to the mix might be too much of a good thing. Before this, the fate of the Arrowverse seemed a little unstable with Arrow dragging last year and The Flash repeating itself and the fate of Supergirl unknown on CBS, but this year, the four shows have been working like a well-oiled machine, creating a more interesting JLA-type formation than what we’re seeing out of Zack Snyder’s big budget Hollywood outings.

Photo: The CW
If The CW Arrowverse was to expand again, it would be a little hard to know which direction it might go, as it’s run into a few limits with certain DC properties.
Superman – He’s been introduced on Supergirl, at last, which has been a long time coming, but now that’s sort of put the character in a box. A Superman show would feel more than a little unnecessary when Kara already sort of exists as the Superman of this team, so it seems like he has to effectively remain a supporting character in this world, as weird as that may sound.
Batman – Gotham is kind of the elephant in the room at this point, the one piece of the DC TV puzzle that doesn’t really fit, given the difference in timeline, tone and channel. It seems unlikely that the Arrowverse would “adopt” Gotham into its family, given all that, and even if the show was cancelled, it would feel odd to immediately start up a new Batman series on The CW. Given DC’s tight control over Batman stories lately (no Harley Quinn/Joker allowed on CW or FOX, etc) due to their films, it feels like it’s Gotham or nothing.
Wonder Woman – I remember a long while back there were rumblings of “Amazon,” a sort of “young Wonder Woman” type idea for a CW show that ultimately never materialized. Out of every possible addition to the CW universe, this seems like the most viable. There is no female-led Arrowverse show right now (you could argue Sarah Lance leads Legends of Tomorrow lately, but it’s still an ensemble) so this would be a nice addition. With that said, again, five shows would be a lot, and this would compete directly with DC trying to make WW happen for the first time onscreen.

Photo: CBS
Green Lantern – Hah, I remember a while back when there were rumors that DC was setting up Arrow’s John Diggle to become the Green Lantern someday. That would be sort of awesome, but I highly doubt it will happen. DC is still reeling from Ryan Reynolds’ Lantern, and will try to have a do-over on film in a few years in the form of Green Lantern Corps. But for TV? I just don’t see a show that revolves around never-ending CGI ring projections being in the budget.
Aquaman – If there’s no budget for a Green Lantern show, imagine trying to film something in an underwater kingdom. Also Aquaman still isn’t cool until Jason Momoa proves otherwise.
The rest of the JLA – A ton of other JLA members have already shown on in the Arrowverse in supporting roles, Martian Manhunter, The Atom, Zatanna, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Firestorm. It’s hard to imagine any getting their own show, past what we’ve seen in the Legends of Tomorrow ensemble.
In short, the only addition to the CW universe at this point that I can see making much sense would be a Wonder Woman offering, but even that is rife with its own kinds of challenges. And given how much DC dislikes overlapping its movie and TV series, despite their separate universes, it’s hard to imagine this coming to life when Gal Gadot is just about to find her footing in her own feature.
I rarely like to argue for the status quo, but in this case, with each of these current shows performing well both ratings-wise and creatively, I think the Arrowverse is actually right where it needs to be at the moment.
In related news, have I told you about my dream of a CW Xavier’s School for the Gifted show?

Polygon’s 2016 Games of the Year #10: The Last Guardian
In retrospect, one of the biggest downsides of The Last Guardian’s 10-year development cycle is that people knew about it.
Not for those who worked on the game, of course. I’m sure they dealt with political and organizational hurdles that make player expectations seem tame. But for those of us on the sidelines, watching the game pop its head up every few years then disappear for long stretches, the past decade led to lots of speculation and questions about what happened behind the scenes — most of which Sony and GenDesign reps haven’t yet been willing to answer, and journalists haven’t yet been able to uncover the answers to.
For me, at least, that cloud of confusion hung over the game as I played it.
“Were those framerate issues because of long-standing dev struggles?” “Does the game keep showing button prompts because of creative arguments behind the scenes?” “I wonder what the graphics would look like if the game had started development on PS4.”
I didn’t want to think this way, but I’d heard so much chatter about the lengthy process that it was hard not to.
When I got out of my head and enjoyed what was on the screen, though, The Last Guardian presented one of the year’s best experiences. It’s a rare case of creative restraint that simultaneously feels intimate and expansive. It doesn’t feel like an adventure game; it feels like an adventure.
I’ll call special attention to Trico, the massive bird/cat/dog who accompanies you on your trip. Despite the design challenges of putting a creature that large in a series of small rooms, the developers built an animal that acts naturally in nearly every situation, and animates more like something out of an animated film than a game. Whenever I saw Trico leap too far and struggle to pull up on a ledge, I felt like I was playing inside a cutscene.
Certainly, the game isn’t without technical flaws, and they may sour your experience at times. It’s not like you’ll dislike the camera issues enough that you’ll go play other similar games instead, though. There are no other analogous games of this scale. In recent years, a number of games have nailed a similar tone, but none have come anywhere close to building a creature as elaborate and impressive as Trico.
And Trico, more than anything else, helped me forget about all the discussions of the game’s development and focus on the game itself. Thanks to how well the developers nailed that character, the game feels fresh despite the practical proof otherwise.
People often talk about it being hard to predict the market for a game that takes two or three years to develop, because the game industry changes so quickly that it’s hard to catch the waves as trends and tastes change. And with The Last Guardian, Sony and GenDesign made something that feels right at home despite taking 10 years.
Humble Bundle appeals to Assassin’s Creed fans for charity
The new Humble Bundle to benefit charity is all about the Assassins.
Ubisoft and Humble Bundle are working together offer an assortment of games: from the side-scrolling Assassin’s Creed Chronicles trilogy, to main series games like Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed 2.
This Bundle supports The Pablove Foundation, which invests in education and research on childhood cancer, and CéKeDuBonheur which is another organization benefiting hospitalized children.
The base bundle, AKA the “pay what you want” tier, includes the Chronicles games and the original Assassin’s Creed.
Paying over the average will net you Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, Assassin’s Creed 3 and the first chapter of its Tyranny of King Washington DLC, as well as Assassin’s Creed 2.
The $15 tier adds on Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. The games are made available to download through Ubisoft’s UPlay client for Windows PC.
As of this writing, the Humble Bundle has pulled in almost $500,000. It will be available for 13 more days.
Correction: Only the first chapter of The Tyranny of King Washington is included with Assassin’s Creed 3, rather than the entire DLC.
Valve reveals Steam’s top 100 best-selling games of 2016
As stressful and difficult as 2016 was for the real world, it was an incredible year for video games. Some of the most anticipated games of the decade — Final Fantasy XV and The Last Guardian — finally saw the light of day, Nintendo changed mobile gaming forever with the release of Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run, and life simulator Stardew Valley provided the perfect escape from reality.
In celebration of the year that was 2016, Valve has put together a comprehensive list of the top 100 best sellers on Steam “as measured by gross revenue this year,” and there are more than a few surprises.
Rather than just list the games 1-100, Valve has separated the list into four tiers: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. There’s no indication as to whether or not the games in each of those tiers are listed in order of their gross revenue, or even any indications as to where the cut off point was for each tier.
Nevertheless, it’s an interesting list, with plenty of familiar titles clogging up the top tiers. The Division, Fallout 4, Grand Theft Auto V and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive all managed to climb into the platinum tier, along with the free to play Dota 2 and the most controversial game of the year: No Man’s Sky.
Dota 2 was one of several free to play games to make the list, alongside Team Fortress 2, Warframe, Smite and a few others. If you thought that microtransactions were reserved for mobile games, PC gaming wants to have a word with you. Gamers clearly love cosmetic upgrades, and are willing to pay for them.
Best of all, virtually every game on the list (save for a few new releases) is on sale as part of the Steam Winter Sale, so be sure to check and see if anything on the list interests you before the sale ends.
Pick up 9 Assassin’s Creed games for $15 with the latest Humble Bundle
Game releases throughout the first couple of months of the year can be a bit sparse, but if you’re looking to pick up a bunch of games for a discounted price, the Humble Assassin’s Creed Bundle is worth a look.
On Tuesday, Ubisoft partnered up with Humble Bundle to give gamers a chance to buy up to nine Assassin’s Creed games for the incredibly low price of $15. Altogether, these nine titles would typically cost $177, but as long as you pick up the bundle before January 17th, you can get them for a fraction of that price.
As always, there are different tiers to the bundle, depending on what you’re willing to pay. Spending at least $1.00 will give you access to Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia and the original Assassin’s Creed from 2007.
Beating the average payment (which is currently sitting at $7.34 at the time of writing) will unlock three additional titles: Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, Assassin’s Creed II: Deluxe Edition and Assassin’s Creed III (along with the first episode of the Tyranny of King Washington DLC).
Finally, if you’re willing to pay $15, you’ll receive all seven games listed above as well as Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. Once you’ve decided how much you’re willing to spend, Humble Bundle will send you Uplay keys for all of the games within the tiers you unlocked.
Humble Bundle automatically splits your payment between Ubisoft, the two charities being supported and the Humble Bundle service itself, but you can decide where you want your money to go at checkout.

Video game release schedule: Every game coming out in January
Following the busy fall season, the video game release schedule in January is typically somewhat unexciting. We did get The Witness last January, but all in all, it was a relatively tame month, especially in comparison to October or November. While you aren’t likely to break the bank this January either, there are a surprising number of highly anticipated titles scheduled to launch before the end of the month.
Below, we’ve highlighted a few of the biggest releases coming to consoles and PC this month. At the end of the post, you’ll find a complete list of every game that has a January release date:
Gravity Rush 2
Release Date: January 20th | Platform: PS4
The sequel to one of the most well-received PS Vita games of all time is coming exclusively to the PS4 on January 20th. We’ll have a full review on the site later this month, but if you like the idea of platforming and battling while shifting gravity, Gravity Rush 2 might be up your alley. In the meantime, if you want to catch up on the story, you can watch the two-part anime that bridges the gap between the games on YouTube.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
Release Date: January 24th | Platform: PS4
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 will be the final Kingdom Hearts game/compilation released before Kingdom Hearts 3 finally arrives on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The 2.8 collection is comprised of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD (an HD remake of the 3DS game), Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage (which uses tech from KH3) and Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover (a series of cinematics that will fill in some of the game’s untold back story).
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Release Date: January 24th | Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Resident Evil 7 is a first-person survival horror game that attempts to bring the series back to its roots after it nearly went off the rails with Resident Evil 5 and 6. The entire game takes place in one location, with an ordinary man trying to escape the clutches of an insane, seemingly unstoppable family.
Tales of Berseria
Release Date: January 24th | Platform: PS4, PC
The latest entry in Bandai Namco’s Tales RPG franchise, Tales of Berseria was released to solid reviews in Japan last August. If you’ve ever played a Tales game before, you should know what you’re getting from Berseria, but it does hold the distinction of being the first Tales game ever built for the PS4.
Yakuza 0
Release Date: January 24th | Platform: PS4
Yakuza 0 is the latest open-world, action adventure game in the long-running Yakuza series. It will actually serve as a prequel to the original Yakuza game, which released in Japan way back in 2005. If you have any interest in the franchise, this should be a good jumping off point, both in terms of the story and the gameplay.
January Release Schedule:

- Road Redemption | PS4, Xbox One | January 15th
- 2064: Read Only Memories | PS4 | January 17th

How Deadpool And Wolverine Could Team Up On The Big Screen
Now that Batman and Superman have properly met on the silver screen, the biggest superhero team-up that fans want to see is one between Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. Although it now looks like Wade Wilson won’t actually have a cameo in Logan (contrary to recent rumors), that doesn’t mean that these two hard-to-kill badasses won’t meet each other at some point. In fact, THR’s Borys Kit recently took to Twitter to reveal that — while Deadpool won’t show up during the events of Logan — there’s the distinct possibility that these two X-Men icons will meet up on the big screen in another project.
That announcement should definitely have you excited — even if it’s a bit vague. To help make sense of the rumors, we have taken it upon ourselves to compile a list of ways in which Deadpool and Wolverine could realistically come together in the X-Men universe. Some of these involve the characters battling one another, while others involve them actually teaming up, but they’re all insanely cool ideas that fans would love to see. Without any further delay, let’s kick this list off with (arguably) the easiest method of bringing these two together.

Wolverine Cameos In Deadpool 2
At this point a Wolverine cameo in Deadpool 2 seems like the easiest and most straightforward way for The Merc With The Mouth to interact with our favorite clawed anti-hero. Hugh Jackman has made his desire to officially retire from the role of Wolverine incredibly clear over the course of the last year, so a cameo in the Deadpool sequel could allow him to honor that decision while still giving fans what they want. The original Deadpool already made numerous references to Hugh Jackman and Wolverine, so the groundwork has been laid for a quick appearance. As long as they don’t show the “ball fondle” referenced in Deadpool‘s opening scene, we will be fine with a simple cameo.

They Team-Up In An X-Force Movie
Although it’s beginning to look like 20th Century Fox wants to give the actual X-Men team a break for the foreseeable future — they don’t currently have a traditional X-Men movie slated for release — an X-Force movie is entirely plausible. A darker and more aggressive team of mutants, the X-Force is a violent ensemble of anti-heroes that includes Wolverine, X-23, Psylocke, Deadpool, and Cable — all of whom are willing to kill to get the job done. Most of the recent movies have already done the necessary legwork to introduce this team of characters in the near future, so an X-Force movie seems like a perfect opportunity to properly introduce the relationship between Wade Wilson and Logan in a logical and kick-ass way.

They Make Another Weapon X Movie
Weapon X is an aspect of the X-Men lore that has been addressed on the silver screen numerous times over the years, but it still hasn’t received a proper adaptation yet. The closest we ever came to a genuine Weapon X storyline was X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and we all know how that turned out. In the comics, Wolverine and Deadpool are both products of the military research project, and their shared background has bonded them in several storylines over the years. Deadpool never specifically denied that Ajax’s workshop had any connection to Weapon X, so it’s still within the realm of possibility that a future X-Men movie could potentially explore Logan and Wade Wilson’s mutual connection to this shady organization.

They Fight Each Other In The New Mutants
Although Deadpool has become a loveable anti-hero in recent years, his debut appearance in the New Mutants lore gave him a far more villainous persona. With a New Mutants movie set to debut within the next few years, there is no better time to give the character a more sinister role and send him up against the team of young X-Men. The story could frame Hugh Jackman’s Logan as a side character (and mentor to the young team) who steps in to defend them when The Merc With The Mouth comes looking for blood. Admit it, you already know that the idea of watching these two characters hack pieces away from each other (and quickly regenerate) is a tantalizing prospect.

They Make Their Own Team-Up Movie
The entire “buddy movie” genre is predicated on the idea of putting two diametrically opposed characters together and seeing how it pans out. We’ve seen Riggs and Murtaugh in Lethal Weapon, and we’ve seen Lee and Carter in the Rush Hour series; now we think it’s time to give Wade Wilson and Logan the same treatment. Between Wolverine’s gruff exterior and Deadpool’s wisecracking persona, there are endless possibilities for story when we put this mismatched duo together and watch the sparks fly. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have proven that they have impeccable chemistry in real life, so it makes plenty of sense to produce a movie that capitalizes on their dynamic.

10 Marvel And DC Characters Who Will Steal The Show in 2017
2016 may have been a weird year for movies, but in the Marvel and DC worlds, fans were introduced to many new players. The DC Extended Universe brought in their versions of Batman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn and more, while in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Panther and Doctor Strange were two of the more notable characters to be thrown into the mix. Granted, not all of these movies were well received, but if you’re a longtime comic book fan like myself, seeing new versions of heroes and villains on the big screen is a treat.
Looking ahead to 2017, there are a lot of other new characters who will be put in the spotlight, so we’ve gathered together the 10 people from the Marvel and DC universe we believe will steal the show. Some of these characters are new, while others haven’t had the proper amount of time to show off. Let’s kick this off with someone who’s familiar, yet fresh at the same time.

Baby Groot
Is it cheating to have someone who’s a smaller version of a major character we’ve already seen? Well, it’s totally worth it, because Baby Groot is absolutely fantastic! Granted, we already knew how adorable the tinier sentient tree thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy‘s ending, but now that he’s mobile again, he can be both adorable and dangerous to any enemies that get in his way. However, like his taller self, Baby Groot isn’t ranking high in the intelligence department. Nevertheless, judging by the reaction online, he’s one of the main things people are looking forward to in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Aquaman
Aquaman briefly appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year, but throwing a trident and quickly swimming away isn’t a lot to chew on. Justice League will be the first time the character is thrown into action, and we cannot wait. For decades, Aquaman has been the butt of jokes, but thankfully, his reputation has somewhat improved in recent years. We’re hopeful that Jason Momoa’s portrayal will continue the trend and impress moviegoers unfamiliar with the comics, especially once they see him controlling underwater life and tearing through Parademons.

Etta Candy
While her brief appearance in the Wonder Woman Comic-Con preview was fun, our first hint that Lucy Davis’ Etta Candy was going to be something special was the final scene in the most recent trailer. She made it clear that to the Amazon that women in the “outside world” rely on their principles first and foremost, but she isn’t afraid to a bit of fisticuffs should the occasion arise. Etta is obviously a woman who knows her way around early 20th century culture, but so far it also looks like she’s funny and sharp, so we’re looking forward to her being an excellent foil to the powerful, yet socially unaware, Diana.

Grandmaster
Grandmaster is one of the more obscure Marvel comics characters, but as an Elder of the Universe, he’s definitely one of the most important from a cosmic perspective. He’ll be introduced to the MCU next year in Thor: Ragnarok, and reports state he’ll be the one overseeing the gladiator battles that Hulk has been forced to participate in. That already sounds intriguing, but even better, Grandmaster will be played by Jeff Goldblum. This was one of our favorite announced castings in 2016, as Goldblum’s special brand of weirdness should be the perfect fit for playing an eccentric entity obsessed with games.

Mantis
Just like the main Guardians of the Galaxy were in 2014, Mantis is an extremely obscure Marvel character, but with James Gunn’s magic, she’s sure to become a fan favorite, too. Mantis popped up at the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2teaser trailer to show off her empathic ability, and obviously socially ignorant, she loudly revealed Peter Quill’s “sexual love” for Gamora, which Drax found “somewhat amusing.” This is a good indication that her naivety will be a prominent source of humor in the sequel, but not to worry, she’ll also prove key to helping this band of miscreants protect the galaxy.

The Flash
Like Aquaman, The Flash was introduced to the DCEU this year, and while Barry Allen got a little more to do thanks to his Suicide Squad cameo, Justice League will also be his first opportunity to truly shine on the big screen. Even with The Flash TV series currently enjoying popularity, we’re hopeful that Ezra Miller’s version of the Scarlet Speedster will be something special. Not only do his speed effects look cool, but his conversation with Bruce Wayne in the Justice League Comic-Con preview cents that he’ll be a welcome source of humor and lightheartedness in the midst of the superhero team’s conflict with Steppenwolf.

Hela
Malekith made for a painfully boring and generic villain in Thor: The Dark World, but we have a good feeling that Thor: Ragnarok‘s Hela will enjoy similar reception as Loki, one of the MCU’s most compelling characters. Hela has been one of the God of Thunder’s longest-running adversaries, and like her comic book counterpart, her MCU iteration will have control over the dead. That’s enough to make Hela a worthy antagonist for the third (and probably most destructive) Thor movie, but with Cate Blanchett taking the role, we’re practically guaranteed one of the best superhero movie performances of 2017.

X-23
Hugh Jackman’s time as Wolverine will conclude in Logan, but he won’t be the only clawed mutant receiving significant screen time. The third Wolverine spinoff will see the eponymous protagonist meeting a young girl named Laura, and while director James Mangold hasn’t confirm it, it’s clear she’s X-23 by her first name and two claws on each hand. Although she didn’t utter a word in the first Logan trailer, critics were impressed by her in the exclusive footage screened earlier this month, so it sounds like the cinematic X-23 will be just as fun to watch as her comic book counterpart.

Valkyrie
Valkyrie is one of those Thor characters who some fans have been dying to see in live action, and that will finally happen in Thor: Ragnarok. Played by Tessa Thompson, she will be Thor’s new love interest, but with her mighty sword and natural Asgardian abilities, she’ll likely be helping the God of Thunder and Hulk defend the Nine Realms from whatever Hela, Skurge and the movie’s other villains are plotting. Valkyrie is also already confirmed to return for more movies, so look forward to more of her superhero contributions in 2018 and beyond.

Vulture
Since Vulture was the second super villain Spider-Man ever fought in the comics, it’s appropriate he’ll be the main antagonist in Spider-Man: Homecoming, as Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is still early into his superhero career. Played by Michael Keaton, this version of Adrian Toomes will lead a gang that’s come into possession of advanced technology. In Toomes’ case, he’ll be terrorizing New York in a winged suit that effectively blends his classic look with a modern twist. More importantly, Keaton’s Vulture is ruthless and unafraid to do whatever’s necessary for him to make it to the top of the criminal underworld.
Microsoft Monday: Minecraft For Apple TV Arrives, Xbox One Download Speed Increases, Cortana For IoT
“Microsoft Monday” takes a look back at the past week of news related to Microsoft. This week, “Microsoft Monday” includes details about Minecraft arriving on Apple TV, Dolby Atmos support coming to the Xbox One and Windows 10, the download speed increasing on the Xbox One, a roadmap for Cortana on IoT devices, the OneDrive for iOS update and much more!

Back in October, Mojang announced that Minecraft will be coming to the Apple TV. And today Minecraft has officially arrived for the fourth-generation Apple TV at a price of $19.99.
“We’ve just released Minecraft for the slim black boxes. And, for a limited time, it comes with seven pieces of lovely DLC, giving you the chance to customize the fun to your liking. Minecraft: Apple TV Edition currently includes the Holiday 2015, Town Folk, and City Folk skin packs, along with the Plastic, Natural, Cartoon, and Festive 2016 mash-ups,” said Mojang’s director of creative communications Owen Jones in a blog post.
Minecraft for the Apple TV will also support the Ender Update. Unfortunately, it does not support Minecraft Realms or Xbox Live yet. But Mojang plans to add support for those platforms “in the near future.”
Dolby Atmos Sound Is Coming To Xbox One And Windows 10
Microsoft has announced that the Dolby Atmos surround sound technology will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs and tablets. What makes this announcement exciting is that Dolby Atmos is known for making gaming and video content sound extremely sharp and realistic.
“Xbox will be the first game console to feature Dolby Atmos and game developers are excited about using the new capabilities to make their games richer and more engaging. Atmos support for the Blu-ray app on Xbox is already available in Preview and will be released to GA soon – and we’re very excited now to offer Atmos support to games on Xbox One and Windows 10,” said Spencer Hooks, the Director of Gaming at Dolby Laboratories. “You’ll be able to experience Dolby Atmos in your home theater, assuming you have a Dolby Atmos enabled speaker system or soundbar. But you don’t need to have that kind of equipment – it will be possible to enable virtually any pair of headphones with the Dolby Atmos experience.”
Xbox Preview members can now access Dolby Atmos support on the Xbox One and Xbox One S through Blu-ray Bitstream pass-through. If you are an Xbox Preview member, you can set up the feature by making sure you have the latest Blu-ray player update under the “Updates” tab within the “My Games & Apps” section and then enabling “Let my receiver decode audio (beta)” under the “Disc & Blu-ray” settings page.
Xbox One Update Increases Download Speeds Up To 80%
In a recent Xbox One update, Microsoft substantially optimized the download speeds supported by the console. If you are on an Internet connection that is faster than 100Mbps, then you should see an increase of about 80%. On slower connections, game and app downloads should still see a boost of around 40%. The changes in the download speed depend on your ISP and connection configuration. But the download speeds won’t have as much of a boost if you are playing a game since the bandwidth is prioritized for that experience. The Xbox One update also includes optimizations to make downloads “more resilient to intermittent connectivity issues.” And the update contains performance improvements for wireless controllers and background music.

Microsoft Is Reportedly Expanding Cortana To Internet Of Things Devices
ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley noticed that Cortana will be coming to Windows 10 Internet of Things Core devices with displays, according to a slide presented at the WinHEC 2016 event in Shenzhen. The slide showed Cortana built into a refrigerator, a thermostat and a toaster.
“With upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update, Cortana will be available on Windows 10 IoT Core devices with displays,” says the slide. Windows 10 Creators Update is expected to arrive in March 2017. In the Windows 10 Creators Update, Microsoft is also adding “wake on voice from modern standby” and “far-field voice” with Cortana. This will enable hardware companies to build devices that can wake up Cortana with voice queries and it will be able to listen to people from different rooms.
Foley said that the Cortana on Windows 10 IoT Core will launch in English for the U.S. and U.K. markets first. And there are plans to roll it out in additional languages after that.

Microsoft OneDrive for iOS now has the ability to preview Word, Excel and PowerPoint files within the app via the new instant previewers. Another new feature is the ability to digitize whiteboards, documents and business cards because the app now has Office Lens integration.
